I led Maggie and Bob back to the van. Everyone got out to greet us.
"Maggie, Bob," I introduced. "This is Abraham, Sasha, Rosita, and Eugene. Guys, this is Bob and Maggie, Glenn's wife."
My dad's eyes widened. "You're alive," he stated.
Maggie nodded. "Yes."
"Your husband will sure be glad to see you," my mom said quietly.
"Do you guys know where he is?" Maggie asked, a mix of excitement and desperation in her voice.
My parents exchanged a look and my dad sighed.
"We can take you to him if you want," he offered.
Maggie's eyes lit up. "Really?"
He nodded.
She looked at Bob. He nodded, seeming like he trusted us.
Maggie sighed. "Alright. We'll go with you."
Since the van only had 5 seats, my mom and I sat in the trunk.
I was getting excited to see Glenn and Tara again.
We got to the tunnel and drove into it, turning the headlights on so we could see.
When we finally caught up to them, I had kinda wished we had the headlights off.
They were still alive, but Tara had her leg caught under a pile of rocks and was screaming at Glenn to leave her. Walkers were slowly surrounding them.
"Glenn!" Maggie yelled from inside the car and got out. We all got out after her and got assault rifles.
We all got in a line and shot down all the walkers. Glenn dropped to the ground and covered his head.
Once all of the walkers were down, he slowly got up and looked in our direction in confusion, putting his hand up to block the light.
Maggie walked over to Glenn and, after confirming that it really was him, pulled him into a hug and started crying.
I smiled at them before my dad and I rushed over to help Tara.
I was able to see something for the first time:
Glenn genuinely smile.

Rosita and I walked up to Glenn and Maggie after checking the tunnel.
"How'd it go?" Glenn asked.
"End of the tunnel's secure," Rosita confirmed. "If anything tries to come in, we'll hear in plenty of time. Bree made sure of that."
I nudged her in embarrassment. Maggie chuckled.
Tara walked up to us and Maggie noticed.
"We didn't get to officially meet," Maggie said as Tara stayed silent.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Glenn apologized. "Tara, this is Maggie. Maggie, Tara."
They shook hands.
"Hi," Tara greeted.
It was awkward for a few moments.
"He's a big fan of yours," Tara breathed.
"Dang right he is," I agreed and chuckled.
Maggie smiled sweetly.
I walked over to my dad, my mom, Eugene, and Bob, who were all sitting around the fire.
I sat down next to my dad.
"Where do we go from here?" I asked, letting the fire warm up my hands.
"We'll have to see," he responded, giving me a vague answer as always.
Soon, Tara, Rosita, Glenn, and Maggie walked over to us.
Bob stood up like he had something to tell them.
"What's up?" Glenn asked.
"Abraham just said that Eugene knows what caused the outbreak," Bob told them.
"He does," I confirmed. "He's a scientist."
"Let me guess," Glenn said. "He asked you to go to D.C. with him."
My dad looked at him and Maggie. "I'm downright tickled y'all found each other," he admitted. "Should spend the rest of the night celebrating. Because tomorrow, there is absolutely no reason the nine of us don't stuff ourselves in that van and head up to Washington."
Oh my god, I thought. Can we please talk about anything else besides God forsaken Washington for once??
"He's right," Tara said. She looked at Glenn. "I'm gonna go."
"No, he's wrong," Eugene spoke up. I looked at him in shock. "We're 55% of the way from Houston to Washington. Up until now, we've had an armored military vehicle for transport and we lost eight people."
I sharply inhaled. One of those eight people was Tommy, my best friend.
"That wasn't our fault," Rosita reminded him.
"They're gone," my dad said, almost cutting Rosita off.
"They are," I agreed quietly, staring at the fire.
"I can't imagine we'd have better luck with that grocery grabber we picked up," Eugene continued. We're a day's walk from Terminus. Who knows what they've got there?"
I sighed. Eugene had told me about Terminus around a week ago. I told him he was insane.
"It couldn't hurt to check," Rosita consented. "Load up on supplies, maybe even recruit some of them to come with."
"I'll go," Bob agreed. "After I see Terminus." He looked at Glenn and Maggie. "People from our group could be there."
They sighed and nodded.
There was a little silence before my dad stood up.
"He tells me I'm wrong," he said, referring to Eugene. "I listen. Tomorrow we go to the end of the line. Then Washington."
•••
I was trying to get to sleep when I heard Glenn's quiet voice.
Him and Maggie were sitting a ways away from us and he was talking to her.
I smiled as I closed my eyes again. I was so happy he had found her.
•••
We were here. We were finally here. We approached Terminus with big, wonder-filled eyes. I couldn't help the smile that came on my face.
Glenn and Maggie slowly opened the gate and we walked in.
My survivor instincts started to kick in a tiny bit. Why was this so easy?
I decided to ignore it as I followed my parents inside.
We came to another gate with a sign that read
LOWER YOUR
WEAPONS
YOU WILL BE MET
YOU HAVE ARRIVED AT
TERMINUS
Glenn sighed and him and my mom lowered their guns.
We walked in.
We soon came up to a woman that was standing behind a grill.
She soon saw us and smiled. She came around the grill to meet us.
"Hi," she greeted. "I'm Mary. Looks like you've been on the road a while."
"We have," Maggie confirmed, still seeming like she was experiencing a culture shock.
"Let's get you settled and we'll make you a plate," Mary responded. "Welcome to Terminus."
