Chapter 27

The list of the sixteen students was hung outside geography class that Friday morning. Everyone stood around it, trying to see if their name was there.

The names read:
Andy
Fawn
James
Zandar
Jane
Tarzan
Milo Thatch
Kida
Tiana
Lottie
Wendy
Alice
Isabel
Naveen
Megara
Hercules

"Yes! Yes! My name is there!" Wendy squealed in delight.

"Aw, I didn't make it." Tiger Lily pouted.

"It's okay, Lily, neither did I." Lilo said.

That's when it hit her. If Wendy was gone for a week, she could have Lily all to herself. She'd get her best friend back.

"Maybe I shouldn't go..." Wendy said.

"No, no, you should! Don't ruin your fun because of us." Lily told her.

"It's going to be awesome!" James exclaimed.

"I know, so cool! Do you think we'll be able to ride the elephants?" Zandar asked.

"That would be amazing if you guys could." Their good friend Arthur Pendragon said.

"Hercules is going, Naveen is going, it's going to be brilliant!" James smiled.

"And I'll be here, all alone..." Arthur pretended to be upset.

All the boys laughed.

"Going to Africa with my best friend! Things couldn't get better." Tiana grinned.

"Oh but it can, Naveen's going too." Lottie whispered.

"Really? I guess I only saw our names and nobody else's." Tiana shrugged.

"I've only been to Africa once and that was when I was six. Now I'm twenty going on twenty one, and I'm going again!" Lottie giggled.

"Do you have any idea when we're going?" Tiana asked.

"I don't, but you can ask Naveen."

"Why?"

"So you have an excuse to talk to him."

"To satisfy you Lottie, I might. You know I don't like him right?"

"What? But you're always staring at him!" Lottie exclaimed.

"Because I know he likes me." Tiana explained.

"But you guys would be so cute together!" Lottie put on an exaggerated frown.

Tiana laughed and rolled her eyes.

"That's going to be lots of fun. My Grandma once took my boyfriend and I to Africa." Anastasia told Megara.

"I'm sad that Esme can't go." Jane said.

"The trip will only be one to two weeks, I'm sure you can live without her." Megara said.

"I want to ask Pumbaa when we're going." Jane finished writing her notes and put it in her bag.

"Well, let's go and ask." Megara got up and walked towards the class.

Isabel and Alice squealed.

"I knew we'd get to go I just knew!" Isabel exclaimed.

"I'm curious as to when we're going."

"I don't know, but we'll be leaving Eilonwy with Taran." Isabel laughed.

"For some reason, I think she'll have absolutely no problem with that." Alice smirked.

"You've noticed that too?" Isabel asked.

"That Eilonwy and Taran are closer than before, and if they're not talking to anyone they're staring at each other? Yes, I have."

"Eilonwy? And Taran?" Isabel burst out laughing, and so did Alice.

"Vi, can I tell you something?" Penny said, dragging Violet aside.

"Of course."

"So...you always told me what was going on in your life, everything! I know a lot about you."

"Mhm..."

"And well, I realized that...I'm not as open with my life to you as you are with me, and I feel bad because, you've told me, well, everything!"

"Where's this going Penny?" Violet asked.

"What I'm trying to say, is that that should change, so I'm going to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"I...have a crush on Hiro. And Clio knows. Nobody else does, so don't tell." Penny warned.

"Oh Penny that's great! But also horrible. Like it's great you're telling me stuff, but it's not so great that Hiro likes Tiger Lily."

"I know. Clio told me, 'if you love something, let it go'."

"Wise words." Violet nodded.

"I'll get over him. It's just a crush I've had for a year." She shrugged.

"Wait...a year! As in, when we were all thirteen?"

"Um, yeah?"

"Then that's kinda hard to let go."

"Yeah, but if Hiro's happy, I guess I'm happy." Penny forced a weak smile.

Violet frowned as Penny walked away. She wasn't going to tell Hiro to drop Tiger Lily, but there was something that she could do. To make Hiro see Penny in a new light, was her new mission.

"Okay Adam! Let's get started!" Belle sat down and plonked three books on the table.

"Three?"

"Yep! So let's get started!" Belle opened the first one.

"...'Treasure Planet'?" Adam read.

"It's a classic. If you want me to read it to you, I'm fine with that." Belle shrugged.

Adam stared at Belle for a while. It made her uncomfortable.

"Yeah, I guess that'd be nice. But I'd like it better if you read it with me, to me sounds like I don't know how to read." He said.

"I'll jump at any chance I get to reread a book! Unless I didn't like the book."

Adam smiled. Like his hearty roar that filled the room, his smile seemed to as well.

"So I guess we share the book." Belle said.

"Sounds good." Adam moved his chair a bit closer so he could read. Belle felt his hand brush hers.

She couldn't wait.

"Okay, it's been confirmed! We're going to Africa two weeks after mid-break!" Alice exclaimed when her and Isabel were in their dorm room.

"How'd you find out?"

"I was curious. So I just poked around and found some details." She shrugged.

"I'm so excited! I can test my invention out. It's a complex analyzer." Isabel patted the machine.

"I thought analyzers were already complex." Alice laughed.

"Yeah, and this one is extra complex." Isabel smirked.

"Gee, sounds great." Alice joked.

Only Isabel would find a complex analyzer fun.
