I woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs drifting into my rented room.
I combed my hair quickly and walked downstairs.
In the kitchen, was Mrs. Grey cooking exactly what my suspicions were. As I looked outside the kitchen window, I noticed the Silverado was still there.
"Um, Mrs. Grey, who's truck is that outside?" I asked wearily.
"Oh, that's Jace's - Colton's friend. And Elliana, please call me Grace."
"Of course." I nodded.
"Would you like scrambled or bubbled?"
"Scrambled is fine." I stated.
"Good morning, mama." Eleighna walked into the room in her PJ's. "It smells delicious." She smiled. "Good morning, Ellie." She did a small wave.
"Morning." I said as I got out the orange juice and outed myself a cup.
At this time, I heard footsteps come down the stairs, and into the kitchen.
"You all are up early." Colton yawned.
"It's almost noon." I grumpily inquired.
"It's still early." I don't get this idiot. "Are you always this grumpy?"
"Are you always this cocky?" I said sarcastically.
"Yes." An unfamiliar voice cut in. I looked up and saw none other than Jace Harrison.
When I looked at the table, there were already plates set at the table. Two to be exact.
"Colton and Eleighna, I have to take your father to the doctor. Eleighna, please cook both plates." Mrs. G- Grace said as she grabbed her purse and car keys.
"What? Mom! I can cook for myself!"
"Sweetie, you almost burned down the kitchen last time."
As she walked out the door, Colton and Eleighna shouted a "Bye mom! Love you!"
Aww, don't you wish you had that?
I shook it off as I dug into my eggs and bacon.
"You're Elliana, right?" I looked up and saw that Jace was the one talking to me.
"Yes." I said wearily.
"You don't like me, do you?" Jace asked.
"I don't know. Are you like Jerkface over there?" I pointed to Colton who was obviously failing at cooking an egg - one of the easiest meals around.
"Sometimes." He answered nonchalantly.
"I feel like you're the more intelligent one."
"Nah, that's Colton."
I looked at Colton and saw that he was trying to flip an egg but in the end, it ended up busting and he started to call for Eleighna muttering how he was, "Done with this shit", "Fuck this", and "Damn grease splattering on me".
"Yep. He's definitely more intelligent." I said.
"Yeah, he's smarter." At that moment, I had finally noticed the jackass was being sarcastic.
He smiled in realization and started laughing.
"Colton! Really? You left the egg cooking! The whites should be in ashes already!" Eleighna yelled from the stove.
He came downstairs while pulling on a shirt. Finally. "Um, those are not easy to cook, Leigh."
"Are you kidding? They're the easiest things in the world to cook."
