I woke up the day after, and just felt refreshed and for once in my life, happy.
I knew it would be short lived because today is the day my adoptive parents were coming home for a week, if they could stay that long.
I walked downstairs and noticed that Colton, Jace, and Mason were in the living room.
As soon as they heard me walk downstairs, their conversation stopped. It was as if one had never been spoken in the first place. The sounds of gunshots came from the TV and I wondered why they weren't with Eleighna.
This was the first suspicious sign I saw.
Next Day:
As I walked into the kitchen, I made my way to the pantry and took out Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Soon, my cereal was made.
While eating breakfast, I couldn't help but feel as if something was off. I couldn't help but feel like something bad was going to happen.
It was a few minutes before my cereal was finished and I just sat at the table on my phone going through just about every app I have - Tumblr, Wattpad, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter.
Over that course of time, Jace and Mason had made their way out of the house and to my only guess, the hospital.
Colton didn't look at all happy. He looked depressed to say the least, a bit irritated as well.
"Are you okay, Colton?" I asked, but knew right away that it was a bad question. "Sorry. Wrong question. What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, Elliana."
"You look like you want to kill something." I say, locking my phone. "Sorry. Wrong comment. You look like you want to tackle someone really badly."
"I already said that I'm fine." He gritted.
"No, you're not. Colton, jus-"
"Damn it, Elliana! Just stop asking questions and leave me alone!" He yelled, making me flinch.
"I'm sorry." I said. I grabbed my phone and brushed past him before stopping in the kitchen. "I just wanted to try and help. I'm sorry if I was bothering you."
"Just leave me alone, Elliana." He seethed and trudged out of the kitchen.
I wanted to cry a bit. But I know I couldn't. One small little argument isn't worth crying over.
I heard the front door slam as I walked into my room.
He was fine yesterday.
Nobody is ever fully fine.
It's just a little stress is what I kept telling myself.
But deep down, I knew it was something more than just stress.
I got ready and just wore a sweater, skinny jeans, and converse. I didn't care how my hair looked. It looked fine or decent at the least.
Waiting for Colton became a natural thing to do.
When I walked outside after locking the door, I remembered that he already left.
"Just leave me alone, Elliana!"
Those words hurt more than they should have.
I had to go back in the house to get my car keys, then I locked up.
Walking to my car, I started to feel sad.
Anybody would be happy with a 2014 Camaro and I love my car. I really do. My car is like my baby.
