Colton graduated.

He no longer has to suffer the negativity of high school but he doesn't receive the few benefits of it either.

I wasn't the only one who couldn't go.

Eleighna and I had stayed in the hospital while Colton walked across the stage and earned his diploma as well as Jace.

From what I heard, there was going to be a graduation party but Colton didn't go. How do I know this? Thirty minutes after it ended, Colton showed up at the hospital in his graduation gown and cap.

"You could have gone to that party, you know?" I told him.

"I know." He sighed. "But I have been to plenty of parties." He chuckled. "If there's anything I have learned, it's that I should just stick to football practice in college instead of parties."

"When are you leaving for Florida?" I asked.

"As soon as I can." He replied. "Probably around the time July starts."

Today was June Fourteenth. "So fifteen days?" I asked.

He nodded. "You do realize you have been in here for fifteen days, right?" He asked.

"No. I just woke up. I'm not going to keep track of it."

"Well, fourteen days ago, government officials came in."

"Well, of course they would. It's a car accident. They have to be involved in this kind of stuff." I said, rubbing my eyes.

"No, I mean they identified your parents on the plane crash."

They have been identified.

David and Meredith Rinders were identified.

"How?"

"They didn't tell me. They said that information is classified since I'm not immediate family." You are my family.

Part of the only family I have.

"Are they coming again?" I asked.

"A matter of fact, yes. They are coming today." I widened my eyes at him.

"You couldn't tell me sooner?"

"I could have." He smiled. "But I didn't want to."

"This is exactly why I call you Jerkface."

"And you said that name is going nowhere. So I don't actually mind." He smiled. "And had I told you earlier, I know that your anxiety would have gotten the best of you."

He knows your reactions.

He knows you.

I nodded, hesitantly agreeing.

"They just stated about wanting to ask you questions but you were asleep and Brendan wasn't actually awake yet either."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"The doctor said he has brain trauma and that there's a possibility of him having memory loss when he wakes up. That is, if he wakes up." Colton responded. "He's still in his coma and the accident did more damage to him than it did to you."

I didn't know what reason it was that let me know that I didn't want Brendan to die. I want Brendan to live.

I think it was the small bit of emotion he showed me before we got hit. That small bit of emotion let me know that he wasn't entirely cruel.

Because he still cares for you.

Brendan is lonely.

And he has nobody.
