The Grey's had willingly agreed to my mother's dinner invitation. There was one con and one pro to this situation. The pro was Eleighna while the con was Colton.
As I started up my Chemistry homework, I glanced at the small alarm clock on the bedside dresser.
4:28
Not much swarmed into my head of what I could do in the spare time I had left until the Grey's arrived unless you count staring into math and science books.
Most people wouldn't.
Occasionally, I would look towards my phone.
Don't pick it up, Elliana.
Although, I rarely ever stuck to that phrase.
As I heard the Kim Possible ringtone, I picked up my phone.
Now, if this was anybody else, I would have probably ignored the call.
"What is it, Kara?" I asked, answering her.
"Is he there yet?" She asked.
"No." I said. "I'm not looking forward to him either. Why are you asking?"
"I'm curious."
"Curiosity killed the cat." I reminded her.
"And satisfaction brought him back."
"Well, he wasn't satisfied and he died. He has nine lives anyways. He can find out again." I told Kara.
"Well, then good thing I'm not a cat." She replied.
"Listen, I'll call you back." I said. "I have homework to finish."
"Calm down on the homework." She said. "Give yourself a break once in awhile."
"I can try."

"You're a lady, Elliana. Look like a lady, act like a lady, and be a lady."
Those words had been drilled into my head by my mother since I was a toddler and probably while she was carrying me.
I am a lady.
The more I thought about that phrase, the more I wanted to change the letter "d" into a "z".
The doorbell rang as I had just finished my hair. I quickly put my brush and straightener away as my mother called, "Elliana!"
"Coming Mom!" Looking down the stairs and into the foyer, my Mother stood wearing a red dress and heels, staring me down.
This is a dinner, not a banquet.
Well, even if this was a banquet, I would have probably worn something less than formal like sandals and a simple dress with straight hair.
I'm not one for curling my hair.
"Elliana! What have I told you? Don't say mom! You say mother! Didn't you learn anything in school?" My mother scolded quickly.
I nodded.
She talked to me like I was dumb and stupid but she paid so little attention to me, she didn't know that I have good grades and a high GPA.
My mother straightened herself out before reaching for the knob and inviting the Grey family into our house. "Hello, nice to meet you, I'm Meredith Rinders."
My mother held out her hand for them to shake, with a smile on her face.
She rarely wore a smile on her face and most times, it was fake.
