The next day Ella was in the garden leaning against a statue surrounded by yellow and purple tulips, thinking about how could Nate speak a language that no one else but she could speak.

''Thinking about something important?'' a voice pulled her out of the confusing thoughts as Thomas came and stood in front of her.

''No, its nothing.'' she replied faking a smile.

''How's your powers?'' he asked pushing his hands in his pockets.

''It's going well so far.'' she said turning to face him.

''Then show me.'' he said in a dead serious tone. Ella never liked this side of him, it always scared her, but she was no fool to mention it to him.

''Anytime.'' Ella replied crossing her arms and standing straight. ''Just to let you know, I won't go easy on you.'' Ella said and they walked to the back lawns of the castle.

''Same here.'' he replied and same words kept repeating in his mind. 'Too much is being risked for you, Ella. So don't let any of us down. Please.'

''You ready?'' Ella asked as they reached the back lawns. They walked away from each other, so that there was a long distance between them. Soft breeze blew from Ella's side. ''Looks like nature is on my side.'' Ella said as the breeze blew her waist length hair.

''Oh we'll see about that.'' came Thomas'short reply replied.

And then they started their duel.

Thomas sent his shock waves through the ground, Ella blocked some of them by the strong blows of wind she sent to the ground calming the ground. Then it was Ella's turn to attack.

The fight stretched on for a long time, after a while they both were panting and sweating.

'How much more have you got in you?' Ella thought as a strand of hair fell on her forehead.

'So she really has improved.' Thomas thought and then smirked to himself.

Ella looked around to find something for her final move, but Thomas was quicker than her. He raised his hand and big chunks of earth rose from the ground and headed in full speed at Ella. She sent three sharp blows of wind at the chunks which crushed them into many little pieces making them useless.

Suddenly, the dust from the chunks flew into her eyes making her momentarily blind. Then she felt the ground beneath her feet crumble, she stumbled and fell back. Taking the opportunity, Thomas dug her hands quickly deep in the ground. Unable to move her hands, Ella finally gave up.

Thomas finally let go of her and helped her get up.

''You are really strong.'' Ella said rubbing her dusty eyes. long against the strongest one.'' He encouraged her.

''But I still need to practice harder.'' Ella said looking at the sky.

''I know, you will get a hang of it. We all will help you.'' He smiled politely at her.

''Please smile a lot more Thomas.'' she sighed and they went inside the palace.

Everyone was silently eating their supper when King Desmond spoke.

''How's your training going Ella?'' her father asked her.

''Its going fine. I was able to stumble Thomas off his feet, which was a big achievement for me, and I almost defeated him in our duel.'' she replied confidently.

King Desmond laughed ''Just the thing I expected from my daughter.'' he said proudly.

''Don't be so sure Desmond dear, tables can turn any moment. We should be ready for anything.'' Queen Miranda said carelessly while eating from her plate. The laughter of the table disappeared in an instant as the words fell out of Queen Miranda's mouth.

''Miranda don't start at everything she does.'' King Desmond said in Ella's defense.

''Don't worry mother, I didn't fail to disappoint you in the past and I won't fail to disappoint you in the future.'' Ella replied coolly sipping the wine from her glass.

Then there was a complete silence at the table, nobody spoke to anyone. Slowly everyone started to leave the table. Now only Thomas and Ella were left behind.

''He said to meet him at the same spot tomorrow at the same time.'' Thomas informed Ella. She nodded in reply.

''Thomas, I want to ask you something.'' she said.

''Hhmm?'' was his reply.

''What was my mother talking about? About tables being turned.'' she asked.

He scratched his head ''Honestly, I don't know what was that about.'' he felt a pang of guilt in his chest as Ella nodded and quietly left the table.
