CHAPTER 20: FIGHT AND QUARREL

As the man turned around, Ella saw his face. It was not Nate. 'Oh no! I was tricked!' the voice in her head screamed.

The man smiled at Ella and spoke, ''Surprised?''

''Who are you? Why did you bring-'' Ella stopped and remembered something. She looked at the stranger, he had eyes like a beetle and his hair was jet black and reached his shoulders. Then realization hit her, ''You were the one watching me at night, weren't you?'' Ella said wide eyed.

''Oh! So you remember me? I thought you didn't even see me.'' he replied, amused with Ella's memory.

''That doesn't matter. Who are you and why did you trick me?'' Ella asked trying to keep a good distance from the man.

''You know I like to do things straight forward. The thing is it does matter. I am Xavier, you can call me Alex by the way and I tricked you so that I could meet you.'' he told Ella everything exact to the point.

''Where is Nate? What did you do to him?'' Ella asked furiously.

''Don't worry, your Nate doesn't know what's happening here, at the moment.'' The man named Xavier replied calmly.

''Why did you want to meet me?'' Ella asked.

''So that I can take you with me.'' he replied.

''Who ever you are, I'm telling you to stay away from me.'' Ella said in a warning tone.

''No Ella, that's the thing I can't stay away from you.'' he said taking a step towards Ella. ''Don't you want t know what's been happening since you were born? Don't you want to know why your so called mother does not love you. And who is actually that Nate?

''What do you mean?'' Ella said curiously lowering her guard for a second.

''Ah, so you do want to know. Come with me and I will tell you everything.'' He said moving his hand towards Ella to take it.

''I won't come with you and I warned you, now suffer the circumstances.'' with that Ella blasted her powers at him.

''Foolish girl.'' Xavier gave a wicked smile.

Thomas was looking for Ella at the back side of the palace when he heard a loud explosion and dust rising in the middle of the woods.

''ELLA!'' he shouted and ran towards the woods.

When he reached the source of explosion he saw Ella ready to strike again and a man smiling at her. 'Xavier' he said the name in his mind.

''You are strong, Ella. Just like Na-'' he was about to complete his sentence when Thomas shouted,

''Ella, stay away from him!''

''Ah, the great Prince Thomas! How pleased I am to meet you.'' he turned to Thomas.

''I will see how pleased you will be when I kill you.'' Thomas said coldly and stood by Ella.

''You know him? How do you know him and I don't?'' Ella asked Thomas.

''Old enemy.'' Thomas replied shortly.

''So I was right, you didn't tell her anything.'' he said to Thomas.

''You just stay away from her.'' Thomas threatened him and the earth under Xavier's feet rumbled and cracked, he jumped just in time so that he didn't fall in the deep hole which was in the place where he stood seconds before.

''You are strong. But not perfect.'' Xavier complemented.

''Tell me what, Thomas?'' Ella asked him.

''Ella shut up and concentrate on the fight!'' he scolded her.

Ella and Thomas fought Xavier for some time, he was too quick to fall in their traps. By the time everyone from the palace had come to join the fight. 

Ella became annoyed of the swift opponent, she sent a wave at him which caught him off guard while he was trying to dodge Amber's icicles, Ella hit him against a tree and clamped her right fist in front if her. Xavier was pinned to the tree unable to move because of Ella's power.

''Try to keep it safe till you can but you won't be able to save it. You all know it.'' as he said that, some kind of fog started to surround him and it was no ordinary fog, it was black in color just like his hair. When the fog started to clear there was no sign of him.

Ella turned around to face everyone, they all looked back at her with blank faces. ''You all have to explain something to me, don't you think?'' They said nothing. ''Well, tell me what was that about. Who is this Xavier? Why does he want to take me with him?'' she asked.

''We can't tell you.'' her father replied. 

''What do you mean father, that you can't?'' she shot back. ''You all are hiding something big from me and I want to know it.''

''You are not supposed to know-'' her mother started angrily but Ella cut her off in the middle.

''Don't treat me like the person you think I am mother! I can expect answer from anyone but not from you! And even if you want to answer I don't want to hear it from you!'' Ella turned to her mother her temper snapping, she hated the way her mother treated her. She wanted to get rid of it once and for all. She turned away from her and looked at her father,

''First the threat,'' she then turned to face James, Aston, Eric and Amber ''Then the book,'' then she faced Thomas ''Your expression when you saw the peacock for the first time,'' she skipped Nate's name. ''Then when I went to the library to read the same book you arrived behind me,'' she said pointedly to Thomas ''And now this! What is so big than my senses that I can't detect?''

''Ella when someone says they can't or won't tell you anything, then don't persuade them!'' Eric said now losing his temper.

''Oh so now you are going to tell me that. The one who said 'Why would we hide anything from you.' '' she shot Eric's words back at him.

''Ella, we don't want to put you through so much at same time, we don't want you to get angry and stuff.'' he said softly.

''You don't know what I've been through, you just wish I don't get angry more than this when I hear the truth.'' she said through clenched teeth.

''If you don't want to tell me anything or want to treat me like a five years old kid, then do as you please. I am not going to ask you again, keep the secrets and your business to your self.'' Then she turned to King Desmond and said, ''Father, I have already put a lot of lives in danger and they lost a faithful man because of me,'' she glanced at King Raymond and Queen Harriet ''I say we better leave today than tomorrow. I'll be waiting for you outside the palace.'' she said and left the company.

Outside the palace everyone was saying goodbye to each other, Ella nodded to King Raymond and hugged Queen Harriet then she started walking towards the carriage.

''Ella!'' King Desmond called after her but she didn't reply and kept walking. They all deserved it. ''Ella you are breaking centuries old traditions.'' her father told her.

''You told me I should trust them, but how can I trust them if they can't trust me. Or even better I should not say 'they' I should say 'you all.' '' she replied her father without even turning back to face him and went straight to sit in the carriage and closed the door.
