Small little Felix Jacob Portman was born at Miss Peregrine's mansion, on June 10th. Tatiana was born on the same day in 1897, and had spent most of her birthday helping Olga with the childbirth. Olive was in the room along with Jake when the small little baby was born, but was sure to keep at a discreet angle so she couldn't see too much of the birthing. Tatiana and Olga had never dealt with childbirth and poor Olga had to leave the rooms a few times so she wouldn't throw up. Whenever the sisters worked as red cross nurses, Olga had to become a receptionist instead of a surgeon because of her weak stomach, while Tatiana was quite a trooper with blood and such.
Felix had Emma's blonde curly hair, and what looked to be Jake's blue eyes, but all babies eyes were blue so no one could tell fir sure. Emma had called Jake every foul name in the book, though that was highly expected and Jake took it in stride, laughing. Emma had even snapped at Tatiana and Olive a few times, and thank heaven's Tatiana knew it was the pain talking, not Emma. Olive knew how Emma was whenever she was angry, and the pain of the childbirth had probably doubled that anger. Once Emma heard the verdict that her baby boy was in perfect health with no complications, she passed out in the old mattress they were using, so they didn't get a perfectly good one bloody.
Olive longed to call Alexei or write him a letter concerning Felix's birth, but she knew that wasn't possible. They had cut off Alexei and Nicholas's communication, much to everyone's dismay. It scared Olive quite a bit, not being able to hear or speak to Alexei at all. For all she knew the Germans had killed them, the thought making a chill run down her spine in the small room Felix was born in. She sat in the room now with Emma, Jake, and Tatiana who was cleaning up the bloody sheets from the birth.
Jake was holding a sleeping Felix, rocking him gently. Emma was still asleep, more than likely exhausted from the over ten hour childbirth. Olive was tired and exhausted and she hadn't even been the one giving birth, though she had stayed up and coached Emma through it. Felix was born breech, and Olive almost threw up her breakfast seeing Tatiana with blood all over her hands and wrists. Tatiana had been aggravated with the long childbirth, but had been satisfied at the end of it. "I will have to do this for Olive one day, hopefully. " Tatiana had said to Emma before the birth. It was more than likely true, so Olive couldn't argue with Tatiana. Olive would trust Tatiana and Olga to help her through childbirth than any doctor in the world.
"Well, I think I did good for my first childbirth. " Tatiana said, bundling up the dirty sheets and nodding towards Felix. The baby stirred coughing, making Jake hold him a bit tighter. Tatiana smiled, tilting her head. "That you did, Your Highness." Jake said, smiling over at Tatiana warmly. Tatiana shook her hear, putting the dirty sheets in a small hamper by the doorway. "You don't have to call me that, we are quite acquainted. " Tatiana quipped, hiding her smile behind the notebook she was using to record Felix's birth. Olive smiled, watching Emma stir.
Emma opened her eyes groggily, looking around the room slowly. "Oh god.. ow.." Emma said painfully, trying her best to sit up. Tatiana rushed over, her nurse instincts kicking in as they always did when someone was injured. "Emma, lay down. I'll give you something to numb the pain dushka." Tatiana chided smoothly, pulling the covers up on Emma. Olive frowned to see her friend in pain, even though she knew it was coming. All mothers were sore after childbirth, it was common sense. Emma turned to Jake, who looked up from his son to peer at Emma. "Is he alright?" She asked, reaching for Jake's hand. "Yes. He is perfect in every way." Jake said, taking Emma's hand smiling. "Do you want to hold him?" He asked, gesturing to Felix
Emma froze, swallowing audibly. Olive knew Emma was scared to hold her baby, given how fragile newborns seemed. If Olive had a child, she knew she would be terrified to hold it, scared she would drop it or hurt the baby in some way. "Go on Em, you won't hurt him." Jake said, smiling. He was trying to calm Emma, sensing her fears. Emma slowly held her arms out, letting Jake slowly hand her Felix. Emma held Felix, peering down at him in her arms. He was awake now, and quickly started bawling, having never been held by Emma. "Oh lord, he's scared of me!" Emma said, tears springing into her eyes.
Jake shook hid head, scooting closer to Emma on the mattress. "Just rock him Emma, he'll know you." Jake said, rubbing Emma's arm slowly. Olive felt tears spring into her eyes, watching Jake sooth Emma. Emma rocked Felix back and forth and after a few moments, the baby stopped his crying falling back asleep. "Jake... he's perfect." Emma said, her eyes now filling with happy tears instead of sad ones. Jake smiled,
