He knew they didn't mean it, but that didn't make it any less hurtful. They might brush it off as a joke but he wasn't laughing, or enjoying the 'teasing' at all, so could it really be considered such?

He knew they didn't want their words to hurt him - "Yeah, that's nice, Mo but leave the talking to the... adults," - but they did. The way they talked over him and teamed up against him made a weight settle in his heart, the way they treated him like a child killed him inside.

Sure, he could admit that he wasn't the most responsible of them all. He knew he was childish, but so was Prince! And even if Prince wasn't, how did that give them permission to treat him like he was unable to understand even the simplest things. It didn't mean he was unable to do anything right - "don't screw it up" - just because something was new. He was perfectly capable of doing both simple and difficult tasks, yet the others refused to see that he was more than just a childish and bubbly Side that made dad jokes.

He was more than what they gave him credit for, he was Thomas' heart his emotions - both the shallow and deep ones. He understood just as much as the others - well maybe not Logic, but he was Logic - he just used his knowledge differently. It wasn't easy coming up with dad jokes and puns on the spot in order to lighten the mood, or to say the right things to comfort someone when they aren't feeling good. What he did took a lot more effort and skill that what they realized.

There was a knock on his door, followed by a voice. "Hey, dad, wanna watch a movie with me? It can be one about dogs?"

... Well the others might treat him like a child, like an annoyance, but at least he had Virgil.
