Harry's POV*
It was a day before her birthday and I had almost everything planned. All that was left is one thing and I hoped that it would arrive on time. I called everyone she knew to make sure that they wouldn't mention anything about gifts or her birthday. From the looks of it, she seemed like she had forgotten completely about it.
I left multiple times throughout the week to get each item I needed. There wasn't a place for me to really keep anything at home, so I stashed the things at Eleanor's. She told me that she'd make sure everything was safe.
Aubrey wanted to go to El's place for something. She hadn't mentioned what she wanted to do, but just that she missed her. What confused me was that if she missed her, they would make a date to go to a coffee place or meet somewhere else. She'd never asked me to take her to El's home before. I just prayed that none of the things I put there, Aubrey wouldn't see them.
Once I dropped her off, I had to call Liam to reschedule the pick up and delivery part of it all. We met up at a nearby juice bar by his place. He snuck out without Natalie noticing, which was good. Even though she was in on not telling her, I didn't want any of them to know what the actual plan was. Everything I hid at Eleanor's, she didn't know what was in the boxes — which I sealed up properly to know if she took a peak.
"Hey mate."
"Hey. You good?" He asked.
"Nervous actually, but good."
"I've never seen you worked up like this before. She's really got you whipped, eh?" He chuckled and I punched his arm.
"Your face is a better target you know. But honestly, I've never felt like this before. It's all so new and weird to me. I love the feeling though."
"If you're this nervous about her birthday, what will you do when your anniversary comes around?" He joked, but my eyes darted to his mouth.
"What?" I panicked and my heart instantly started to beat faster than ever. I took a look at my phone to double check the date. "Shit."
"You okay?"
"No, no, no. No. I'm not. Tomorrow's also our four month anniversary. I always hated month anniversaries, I find them pointless to be honest. We never really did anything for the past three, but this time, it's on her birthday. What if she notices that I didn't do anything?"
"You said something sometime earlier that you think she might have forgotten her own birthday?"
"Yeah."
"So what if she just didn't remember either."
"I don't know, but I'd better be on the safe side, and do something."
"Harry, you already did a lot. Just take one of her birthday gifts and use it instead."
"No, I feel like I put my heart into her gifts, I need something else. But what can I — yes. Hold on a sec, just gonna make a quick call." I walked away from him, pulled out my phone, and called a number of a friend who owed me a favour.
..
I'd finished all of the important calls that I had to make for Aubrey's birthday arrangements and the anniversary ones as well. I took the time and decided to stop by at the mall to get something new to wear. It's a special occasion, so I'm allowed to, right?
I hated going there. It wasn't a place that I would ever really be caught in, unless I needed to get something. Either that or if Aubrey asked me to join her for something, which only happened once or twice.
