“Wait! Don’t go.” Brian begged with his voice much softer now, grabbing my hand. I turned around to face him as more tears started to fall down my face.
“Why? To keep listening to you yelling at me?” I asked angry.
“No.. I’m sorry.. I just want to make things up with you..” He said calmly, still grabbing my hand.
“I think it’s better if I go..”
“No. You’re not going anywhere until we’re fine.” He said, his brown eyes showing nothing more than regret.
“I need to think, Brian.” I looked up at him and his hands travelled to my face, wiping the tears that were still falling.
“I’m sorry, Annie. I was just angry at your boss and freaked out with you.. I’m really sorry. I hate myself now.” He truly seemed regretful and I wanted to forgive him but his words still sank in my brain and I was still hurt with what he said. I stayed in silence for some moments, thinking about what to do. “Please… I don’t wanna lose you. You’re too important for me.” He grabbed both of my hands and placed them on his chest. His steady heartbeat pounded under my touch and it only made me crying more.
“I’m sorry, Brian.. but I think we were wrong about all of this. We should only be friends.” I released my hands and turned around to open the door, but he placed himself between me and my only way out.
“No. You won’t go anywhere.” He insisted.
“Brian-“
“No.” He cut me. “Listen.. I know that what I did to your boss yesterday was wrong, I should’ve controlled my anger, and today I made the same mistake but with you, which is even worse. I fucked up everything in our first day together and I really understand that you have all those doubts, but Annie..” He approached me and cupped my face in his hands, “I love you.. I really do. I’m sorry for yelling at you, I’m sorry for punching your boss and I’m sorry if I’m being a complete idiot today..” I was looking at his eyes and it was hurting me being upset with him. I know he didn’t do it on purpose.
He removed his hands from my face defeatedly and let them fall on his side with a sad sigh. His eyes were so empty and there was no light in them. My heart ached at the sadness coming from him.
“I’m not mad, Brian." I clarified, "I’m just a little disappointed because you stressed out with me with no reason. I don’t regret anything you did yesterday. Actually I’m really glad that things turned out the way they did. Okay, there were some things that could have been avoided but..” I sighed heavily and turned away, my back facing him for a brief moment before I met his eyes again. “I just wanted to have a great night today with you and forget all my fucking awful day-“
“And I ruined everything.” He completed, walking over at me. I slightly nodded and looked down at my feet.
“I’m sorry.. I didn’t mean it.” He wrapped his arms around me and fondled my hair as I buried my face on his neck.I closed my eyes and inhaled in his scent, instantly calming down. I let all my frustrations go out along with my silent tears. We stayed there god knows how long but it felt good and comforting, although Brian had to move away a little to look at me.
“Oh, sorry.. I dripped your shirt.” I said with a concerned look.
“It’s okay. Do you think I’m worried about my shirt when you’re here, crying?” He asked with a sad smile, making me chuckle.
“These were the two most intense days of my life and partly because of you! I hate to fight with you, Brian.” I said, rubbing my eyes to clean them from the tears. Brian helped me and wiped the rest of the tears with both of his hands, making me lift my head to meet his brown eyes.
