Chapter Forty-Nine: Goodbye, my love, and Goodnight!
Phoenix's POV:
I stare into the mirror and smile to myself as I admire my crimson coloured mermaid dress. I give myself a small twirl giggling with excitement as I do.
"You look gorgeous, Gorgeous!" I hear a voice call out behind me. I grin and feel two hands rubbing small circles into my shoulders soothingly. I close my eyes when I feel a pair of lips against my neck, tenderly kissing it warmly. I smile and open my eyes turning around and attaching my own lips to the owner of the man who was comforting. He hums and I continue to kiss him until my breath runs short and I pull back placing my forehead against his own.
"Thanks, you don't look bad yourself," I compliment back staring into his green eyes with my own violet. He chuckles and takes my head in his hands and kisses the top of my head tenderly.
"I really wish I was your assistant tonight and not sat with Galavan conversing with the public," I complain saying what comes to my mind. I hear Jerome sigh as he pulls away from me slightly.
"I know, Dollface, but you've gotta remember that I want to keep you safe and out of harm's way tonight just in case something were to go wrong," Jerome states reminding me of the conversation we had yesterday.
"You keep saying that as if something is going to go wrong," I point out a little worry in my tone. Jerome shakes his head and smiles at me, a genuine smile.
"Don't worry, once tonight is over we will leave this place," Jerome mutters pulling me into his chest. My eyes lighten and I look up at him with glee.
"Leave here? Do you mean escape from Galavan leave?" I question in disbelief. Jerome looks down at me and nods his head smirking.
"Well, would yah like that?" he asks. I smile and scream a little jumping up and wrapping my legs around his waist, my arms wrapped around his neck tightly.
"I'll take that as a yes then," Jerome laughs. I scream again and nod my head several times.
"Yes! Yes! Yes! Of course, I'll leave with you!" I squeak out excitedly. Jerome chuckles and spins me around as I continue to giggle before putting me down.
"Then it's settled. After tonight, there will be no more Galavan, no more rules, we'll be free!" he exclaims. I nod my head and he crashes his lips against my own, lingering a sweet kiss as if he is savouring the kiss.
"I love you," he tells me looking into my eyes. I smile back, my eyes slightly glassy.
"I love you too,"

I stand beside Galavan and Tabby with a glass of champagne in my hand, fizzing and bubbling away. I am already bored and Theo insisted that I wear a red masquerade mask to hide my face so nobody recognizes me.
"Please tell me we are going to have some entertainment tonight," I say bored looking at Tabby. She smiles at me and shrugs her shoulders, her long raven curls bouncing off of her shoulders.
"I don't know, the main event doesn't start for another fifteen minutes," she answers me back. I sigh and groan earning a glare from Theo.
"Don't worry, we'll be sat down soon so you can play with the napkins and make paper swans," Tabby says sarcastically. I playfully glare at her and hit her shoulder lightly. She laughs at me and I smile back.
"Deputy Mayor Kane, this is my sister Tabitha and my other sister Tara," Theo says out of the blue. I raise my brow and switch a confused look with Tabitha questioning why Theo introduced me as his sister.
