Chapter Fifty-Nine: Everybody's Fool

"Tell a lie once and all truths become questionable..."

Previously on Penguin's Bird:

CH57:

"Tell you're boss, I'll join him as long as he doesn't hurt her anymore," Cole says coldly.

"Done!" the man walks out smirking with a syringe full of light blue liquid in his hand.

"What the hell's that?" Cole asks turning to Tyler who looks equally confused.

"Memory serum, it'll erase her memory of everyone... of everything that has happened tonight, she'll forget Oswald, Tyler, me, and you Cole," the man says.

"What have you done? What have you done to her!" Cole screams kicking and clawing at the bars. Tears roll down his face.

"Now, now, Cole. She doesn't remember who she is, she doesn't remember you, or me... or her old life," I say to him.

"I mean, she said her name is Anastasia for god's sake. She remembers nothing from the past three years. Nothing about being Dacey Strike and nothing about us," I say to him as he hits the floor in pain. He looks up at me and I see a couple more tears pass his eyes.

"Isn't this familiar?" I remark and I watch as his eyes widen.

"But this time, she hasn't had the memory serum..."

CH48:

"There's a well on our property and I kinda went down the well to go exploring. Then stupidly, my little brother fell into the well and is now terrified of bats because of me," I say to Jonathan. Jonathan laughs at this and he suddenly stops when his name is called out.

Six Years Ago:

Anastasia's POV:

I walk through the grounds of Wayne Manor minding my own business. My father was out to go and fetch Bruce from school whilst Thomas and Martha were both at Wayne Enterprises. I sighed running my hands through my long dark hair. I look at all of the scenery around me and smile to myself, just a year ago I would've never imagined coming here, living with the Waynes and finding my biological father. I now spend every other day with my mother and the other days I spend with my father.

I have everything I have always wanted, I have a home and somewhere to keep me safe and I have a family who loves me dearly. Smiling, I walk over towards the water fountain in the garden, placing my hands in the water and lightly splash it. Just to think that last year I thought I was an orphan, that both of my parents were dead and now I have a family.

In reality, today I should be at my mom's but Bruce needs some help with his school work so Thomas asked me whether I would consider tutoring him and of course I agreed, any excuse I would have to see and spend time with my little brother. Even though Bruce isn't my biological brother, I will always consider him to be. I pull my hand away from the water and dry my hands on my black skinny jeans before standing up and continuing to roam the grounds.
