Chapter Fifty-Two: Love Will End Everything Part One

Dacey's POV:

My arm is intertwined around Theo's arm as he holds me close to him careful not to lose me. Theo found out about Tabitha telling me that I was their sister and to start off with he was skeptical about what I truly wanted but when I convinced him I wanted nothing to do with the Waynes which of course is a lie he started to trust me again. 

"This is one Hell of a party," I comment bored looking around at all of Gotham's aristocrats walking around with glasses of champagne in their hands. 

"Indeed it is," Theo comments smiling at a couple of the gets that congratulate him on his win at becoming Mayor. 

"Shame, Tabby can't be here," I say sadly. Theo stops smiling and turns to me. 

"She is here, but at the same time not here," he tells me and then walks away leaving me on my own. I sigh and call over a waiter and grab two glasses of champagne and drink them both down and take another glass before sending the waiter away. 

"Rough night?" I turn my head and see a tall blonde man in a crisp black suit. He smiles at me and I smile a little back at him.

"Hello James," I say. Jim nods his head addressing me.

"Hello Dacey," he says back. I shake my head and scoff. 

"I'm not a low life, James... or have you forgotten?" I question pretending to be my alter ego. Jim's face falls and he slowly nods his head. 

"Ah yes, sorry Phoenix, my apologies," he says. I nod my head and sip of my drink letting the cold liquid travel down my throat soothing me.

"You not drinking? It's a party, you're meant to have fun," I state looking at Jim who looks tense in his posture. He shakes his head. 

"No, I'm on duty," Jim informs me. I furrow my brows and look at Jim puzzled. 

"What are you talking about?" I ask confused. I notice Jim's gun in his hidden behind his jacket and I instantly know that something is wrong or something is about to go wrong. 

"Penguin, it seems like the new mayor wants him arrested for some unknown reason," Jim tells me. I nod my head taking in all of the information and processing it. I look over and see Theo talking with Harvey Dent and raise my brows. 

What is he doing? I wonder to myself and then everything slowly clicks into place.

"Galavan killed Penguin's mother," I mutter under my breath. I turn my head and I see Jim's eyes widen. 

"What?" he asks in shock, now it is my turn to have my eyes widen. 

"Didn't you know? Penguin's going to be plotting revenge against Galavan because of it which means-" I am stopped in my tracks I hear another pair of footsteps behind me. 

"Ah, Detective Gordon, how nice of you to join us," I turn my head and see Theo smiling at Jim and me.

"A photo if you will," Theo holds on Jim's hand dragging him closer and smiles at the camera ahead of us. I close my eyes and step back out of the light of the flash. I notice Jim doesn't even smile instead he looks weirded out by Galavan. 

"How's the search going?" Theo asks. Again I am confused. I look at Jim and then Galavan. I smile and link my arms back with Theo's and look up at him batting my eyes. 

"Search?" I ask innocently. Jim looks at Galavan and raises his own brows. 

"Ah yes, I forgot to tell you. Penguin is the boos of the criminal underworld so I'm arresting him, I can't have low-life criminals running my city," Theo states. I look at Jim who shrugs his shoulders and doesn't say anything.
