Chapter Eleven: Under my protection

Dacey's POV:

I get out of the car with Harvey and James and go into the old tattered building of Arkham asylum. I don't say a word. As we walk through the corridors I hear nothing. It is silent. There is really no one in here. I look to the let where the main offices are. This is where the two men come to a halt.

"Listen are you gonna be okay?" Harvey asks me. I nod my head. Of course I will be, I am really no trouble.

"Yes I'll be fine just going to look at some things here. Promise I won't get into trouble." I reply back to his question.

"Scouts honor." He smiles at my answer and ruffles my hair.

"See you here in twenty minutes." James says before they both leave to do police business.

I aimlessly wonder down the corridor. I don't really know what to do. I come across a office at the end and knock on the door. The sign on the door reads Mr T. Sole. The door opens and I see someone I don't expect to see here.

"Tyler?" I question. He looks at me surprised as I was to see him. Tyler works at Arkham?

"Dacey what are you doing here?" He asks me curiously. I smile at him and then say.

"Well I'm here to see a couple of things whilst my two fellow cops fetch something." He nods his head and smiles at me sweetly.

"Well it is lovely to see you. Where did you go the other night?" He asks me. I look at the floor, pulling the innocent "I'll get what I want" face.

"Oh I needed to ask my friend something. But your performance was fab. Loved it." I reply. He nods his head in agreement.

"So?" He asks awkwardly.

"So?" I say back leaning on my heels. He laughs whole hardheartedly.

"So which person would you like to see?" He asks me. I look at the clip board in his hand which he passes me. I scan down until I see the name I want.

"Davis Lamond please." I request. He nods his head.

"Follow me." He says. I follow him out of the door. I look at my watch. I have fifteen minutes left until I need to meet up with Jim and Harvey.

I go and stand outside a door that had his name labeled to it.

"See you later " Tyler says as he locks up the door and puts me inside of the cell. I look at the old social worker and he grins at me. He doesn't say a word until I sit down besides him.

"I can tell that you are good. But you are also bad." He states analyzing my every move. I look at him through my hair and smile.

"Well you were good boy weren't you?" I say more than question. He chuckles a little and grins at me.

"Are you here to gloat at my misfortune or to you want to ask me something?" I look at him and then lean in closer to him. He looks down at the white floor and doesn't say a word.

"What do you know about Mocking Bird?" I question. His eyes snap up from the floor to meet my eyes, they tighten together.

"How do you?" He starts but I interrupt him not wanting him to waste my time.

"What do you know about it?" I ask again. He shakes his head and says quietly.

"I'm not supposed to say." I sigh and budge closer to him.

"Who am I going to tell?" I say. He shrugs his shoulders and sighs himself.

"Please if you truly want justice in this city then you will tell me." I beg, I need an answer. He looks at me and then begins to talk.

"There are two sides. One bad and the other really bad. They are eliminating people. That's the really bad side. The bad side are trying to prevent the war but are having a small war among themselves." He tells. I nod my head taking in all of the information.

"Do you know who is involved?" I continue to interrogate him. He shakes his head.

"They're just people you don't want to meet." I sigh a little and stand up. A small smile appears on his face.

"There's a war coming." He says. I look at him with furrowed brows. I heard something about a war from my mother the other day but I really wasn't paying any attention at the time.

"Is that why you fought for justice?" I ask curiously. He nods his head.

"Yes..." I open the door and walk out. Harvey and Jim are outside and both smiling.

"Got what you came for?" I ask, both nod their heads. I smile as they show me a list.

"What is this for?" I question. Harvey walks forward and takes the list away from me and smiles with his teeth showing which given that it is Bullock it's pretty scary.

"Eliminating people from something important." Harvey informs me. I decide to ask no further questions.

They drop me off as it was getting dark. I stand in the cold for a couple of minutes until I notice something in the shadows. I then hear a faint whistling.

"Cobblepot, you can't hide." Is all I say. Oswald walks out with an umbrella in his hand and smiles at me, waving a little.

"What you doing here all alone?" He asks me, I stare at him. He is smartly dressed and is still smiling at me. I then notice that he has something in his pocket.

"Could ask you the same thing?" He smirks at my answer and looks down before returning his gaze back to me.

"Touché." He replies. I laugh and brush my hair behind my ears.

"I've missed that." He mutters just loud enough for me to hear. I cock my eye brow at his statement.

"Missed what Oswald?" I ask curiously. He grins widely and says.

"Your laugh. I have missed it more than you can imagine." He walks towards me. I step back a little.

"What do you want?" I ask him sternly. He grins and then says whilst waving the umbrella in his hand.

"Just a drink. At your mother's bar." He replies. I cross my arms tightly against my chest and say.

"She'll skin you." He offers out his hand to me and wriggled his fingers. I just stare at his hand for a while.

"She can try." He answers, I smile and take his hand but being hesitant it at first. This is a new and different experience. But he can tell me what I want to know. However, there's a small connection like a spark when mine and his hands wrap around one another. A light buzz. A small feeling I haven't felt since a long time ago but it was impossible....
