Chapter Five: The Case of Death...

Dacey's POV:

I am travelling in the back seat of the car with Harvey and James on the way to one of the most darkened out places on the streets in Gotham. We are currently on the case Ed sent me on to take my mind off of the events that have recently happened.

This case involved the people I liked to call the Kiddie Snatchers

Recently, loads of homeless children went missing from the streets, vanishing overnight to someone where else. Many of the children may have been missing but most of them were unwanted. Nobody cares for these children... nobody. I sympathise with the kids growing up on the streets because if I wasn't taken in by Fish Mooney when I was a baby then I would no doubt become one of the missing children.

Oh, I haven't mentioned, since finding out my mother might have played a part in Oswald's death, I decided to move out of my mother's bar and bought myself a large apartment in Gotham. The funny thing about my apartment is that it's directly across from Maroni's restaurant so I can keep an eye on him and his men.

I read the case file scanning through the documents and cases of several missing children, that is until one particular child appears on the page. I scan my eyes through their file and smile to myself. I knew this child and I desperately wanted to find them again.

Whilst I am in my thoughts, Harvey stops the car and turns off the engine and turns around to face me.

"We're gonna check out the camp whilst you go and do what you do best," he informs me, smiling lightly as I nod my head rolling my eyes at him.

"Oh, of course! I will just sit in the car and wait," I mutter sarcastically.

Jim turns his head to look at me with sympathy in his eyes and before turning to Harvey.

"Come on Harvey she needs a distraction," he says trying to convince Harvey to change his mind. Harvey sighs and runs his hands over his face, dragging them down his face slowly in defeat.

"Did Nygma send you up to do this?" he questions looking at me with accusing tired eyes. I nod my head in response smirking at him.

"Yeah, he said it would do good for me," I reply smugly.

"I was advised to do this case with both my partners because the other case I was on was harming my psychological health, and you wouldn't want that, would you Harvey?" I question sweetly, Jim chuckling at my response.

Harvey sighs heavily before opening his car door and mutters "out" whilst getting out of the house. I smile happily and open the door getting out of the car. I follow him and Jim across the streets awaiting any sign of disruption.

Our mission was to find and collect the other children and send them away so that they could be placed into new homes.

Supposedly, the children were going to be sent to camps where they would be free and happy. However, this was all a decoy as the Kiddie Snatchers only wanted to children back and to use them in their experiments. But no one currently knows who wants the children, or why they are going to be sold overseas according to Jim who retrieved this information off of my mother.

That's why we are currently outside an abandoned warehouse where we believe the children are being stored. I look around the warehouse as something in the pit of my stomach didn't feel right.

We were all walking into a trap.

"Guys, I have a bad feeling about this," I mumble as both Harvey and Jim look my way preparing their guns.
