Chapter Twenty-Two: Turning in the wrong direction

Dacey's POV:

I was upset about Tyler's threat but my anger towards him sent my emotions through the roof. Everyone in Gotham was saying that there was going to be a war. I wasn't sure if it was true but I knew that something dark was going to happen. My best guess was that there was going to be a gang war. I know that Falcone was having trouble keeping Gotham under his control and I knew of Maroni's hatred for the old man and that he wanted nothing more than to rule Gotham... Then there was my Mother, wherever she may be. She also wanted to be at the top of the food chain.

At the moment, I felt lost. I had no officially lost Tyler as a friend and possible future ally due to his arrogance and just because of him being a total asshole towards me. My Mother was still missing and I have no idea where she may be or why she just disappeared. Then there was Oswald who I hadn't talked to in a while.

As I was wandering further down the streets of Gotham, my eye caught a bright luminous sign. I stare at the sign for a few moments not quite realising why it seems so familiar to me. I walk towards the sign and tilt my head to the right just staring at it. That's when it all clicks into place.

My Mother's Bar...

"Why is there an Umbrella here?" I question out loud looking at the illuminated Umbrella which glows brightly. I raise a brow and wonder why someone had decided to jazz my Mother's Bar up... her club... her literal baby and business.

I enter the building slowly and cautiously pushing the door. It didn't creek as it usually would and a new coat of varnish was placed onto the door. The handles were a beautifully shined brass and the door in general smelt of new oak. Something was off about this place and I didn't like it.

I walk my way into the main section of the bar.

My eyes scanned my whereabouts, it was different and new furniture was in the room. Colours of reds and blacks were everywhere.

"What the hell?" I ask aloud. The bar had only just opened by the look. What has happened to this place? I wonder in my head.

"Everything's different..." I mutter to myself as my eyes continue to scan the room.

"Welcome to the Umbrella, what may I get you?" A familiar voice asks me politely. I turn my head, my chocolate locks bouncing off my shoulders as I do when I come to see a pair of familiar eyes. My own eyes widen in shock and surprise as I stare at the person. What the hell is going on? I continue to question internally.

"Butch?" I ask in a mixture of confusement and shock. As soon as the large, dark-brown haired man meets my eyes his own show the same amount of shock and a little guilt.

"Miss Dacey?" He questions, gulping a little as he does. He is stood behind the bar polishing an empty glass with a red cloth. I raise my brow and walk towards the bar before sitting down on a red satin toped plush seat.

"Butch, what the hell is going on? Why is this place all modernised and glamoured up all of a sudden?" I interrogate watching as Butch places the glass down on the bar and throws the cloth to the side before looking down at the bar, his eyes not moving to meet mine.

"Miss Dacey, I didn't think that you would come here after your mother left," He states, his voice a little broken. I watch in confusion as he raises his eyes to meet my own. I stare him out with a little glare in my eyes. Surely, if my Mother left town she would have taken Butch with her... surely Butch would've told me...

"What do you know, Butch?" I demand in a threatening tone. Butch visibly gulps understanding that I was in no mood to be messed with.

"Your Mother left town a couple of weeks ago..." he states sadly looking away for a moment. I nod my head and sigh a little at his answer as I let my hands wipe my eyes from the confusion and stress I was feeling.
