Chapter Six: Lies within the GCPD
Dacey's POV:
I walk up the stairs to my apartment and unlock the door before walking over to my sofa and falling on it lazily. I've had one hell of a day and now all I want to do is go and have a nice warm bath, a bottle of wine and sleep.
Although one thought kept plaguing my mind.
What did Selina mean with 'good luck with your friend?'
I stand to my feet sighing and walk towards the large window showing the rest of the city. My feet softly tap against my wooden laminated flooring as I stare out at the bustling city below my apartment.
Whilst observing the city, I notice a familiar-looking person wandering the streets. My eyes squint as I try to recognise the person walking. I am stopped from my visual investigation as my phone buzzes in my pocket. My attention turns to my pocket as I fish my phone carefully out and switch it on revealing a text message from an unknown number.
Uknown Number: Go to Maroni's Restaurant.
"Who the hell is this from?" I question under my breath, my brows crossing in confusion as I re-read the text message.
"Looks, like I'm paying Sal a visit," I comment to myself walking over to my bag and pulling out my purse and slotting it into my jacket pocket before locking up my apartment.
I cross the street and push the door of Maroni's Restaurant, signalling a small metal bell to chime as I smile to myself as a warm aroma of Italian cuisine flares through my nostrils.
Walking over to one of the small tables, covered in a plastic red and white chequered tablecloth, I notice a small note propped up with my name on it. Sitting down, I pick up the small note and gently open it.
Note: When the time is right, you'll know.
"Know what?" I ask, mumbling.
I crumple the note in my hand and place it in my pocket, things were beginning to get weird.
A waiter with a white apron tied around his waist walks over to me, introducing himself to me before asking for my order with a small pad and pencil in his hands. I offer him a small smile and order the chocolate brownie and a coffee off of the menu, that was the one good thing about Maroni's, he offered a café style menu during the day.
Minutes later, the waiter walks out with my order on a small metal tray and I thank him as I take a sip of the caffeine shot. Before long, I hear a loud, cheery voice, someone who I didn't want to here.
"Well, if it isn't the latest Detective of the GCPD!" the Italian shouts as I turn my head and force a smile on my face, pushing the chair against the floor and standing to my feet.
"Maroni!" I fakely cheer and feel his arms wrap around me in a bear hug. As we pull away he places a kiss on each of my cheeks.
"Little Dace what are you doing here?" he asks me, a large smile on his face.
"Your signature brownies and a cup of joe were calling my name," I reply with fake enthusiasm with Maroni seems to buy. A hearty chuckle leaves his lips nods his head. I couldn't exactly tell Maroni about the text message and the note I got, it would be a bit weird.
"Do want a small tour?" he asks as I reluctantly nod my head.
"Of course! I haven't seen this place since I left Gotham," I comment as he takes my arm and begins to show me around the building.
