Chapter Fifty- Six: Take a bullet straight through my Brain

Anastasia's POV:

"So Ana, what brings you to Gotham?" Barbara asks me. We are currently sat at the bar with a bottle of tequila between us.  I swirl the spirit around in my glass and stare into the ripples.

"I'm a psychology major, I'm hoping to get experience at Arkham Asylum where I can then hopefully get a job as a psychologist," I tell her. She nods her head and hums for a moment.

"Really? That's interesting... very interesting..." she mutters taking a sip of her drink. I nod my head and continue to stare at my glass.

"What made you want to help a bunch of crazy's?" she asks me smiling. I think for a moment and bite my bottom lip.

"I don't quite remember, I guess it's because I've always wanted to know what makes people tick, how far people would go to satisfy their urges and give into their inner demons. I want to know how someone gets so manipulated into crime and how they get latched onto strings so easily. It's like nearly all criminals in Gotham are on puppet strings and the ruler of the Underworld is the Puppeteer," I explain. Barbara nods her head still, thinking over what I've said.

"You're right, and what do you think of the Puppeteer?" she questions. I shrug my shoulders.

"It depends on who rules Gotham, it's never going to be Major James, he's a pushover and he's afraid of people such as Victor Zsaz. Last I heard, Falcone was the Leader of the Underworld, but I know it's been three years since I've been here, a lot has changed," I state taking a sip of my drink.

"Aubrey James isn't Major anymore, he was outvoted earlier in the month, and Falcone left leaving someone else to take the spot of Leader of the Underworld," she informs me. My eyes widen slightly.

"How come Falcone left? I mean, he ran this city better than any other citizen, he reeked of power," I say. Barbara shrugs her shoulders.

"Apparently he left to go and retire someplace nice," she says taking a drink. She smiles at me from over her glass and I smile back kindly.

"So, what do you think about the position of Leadership of the Underworld?" I ask curiously. Barbara's brows rise.

"I didn't know you were interested in ruling Gotham," she comments smirking. My eyes widen again and I shake my head laughing.

"No, no. I couldn't, I wouldn't know where to start, where to begin," I trail off. Barbara laughs and places her hand on my shoulder.

"Ana, I'm kidding. Besides, a young woman like yourself shouldn't worry about the Underworld, I mean, someone will soon come to power," she tells me. I nod my head and continue to drink my tequila. We sit in silence for a couple of minutes enjoying the peace between us.

"Analyse me," I hear her say out of the blue.

"Excuse me?" I question lifting my head up and looking into her blue eyes.

"I said, analyze me," she repeats. I tilt my head to the side in a little confusion.

"You want to become a psychologist then analyze me," she states. I sigh and nod my head giving up to her. I turn my body so that I am now fully facing her.

"Okay, I'm not that good yet but I'll give it a go," I say warning her. She nods her head in understanding and sits so she is also fully facing me. I watch her body language, the way she sits up straight and assess the way she dresses. I study her entire body and rethink back to how she has acted towards me from the past ten minutes of knowing her.
