There was a sickening crunch as the massive boot landed on her little brother's form, the babies cry stopping immediately. She knew from the red liquid running across the floor she would never hear it again.
"Now you don't have to take care of it anymore and I don't have to deal with the screaming." The man above her said with a snarl.
Cara's little heart was pitter-pattering in her chest as she forced back tears. It hadn't been that long since her and her little brother Mark had been taken by this giant. She didn't dare speak as the giant's foot lifted to reveal what was once her brother.
Instead of a smiling and laughing baby, he was now a mess of broken bone, blood, organs. It was a sickening sight. She had to turn away because tears had managed to begin trickling from her violet eyes.
"Oh, now the bug's going to cry?" The giant's voice echoed above her. Suddenly she was in a tight grip that was nearly spine crushing and it cut off what little air she had from trying not to cry. But now she couldn't fight it off and burst into tears.
"L-Let me go!" The young girl screamed and fought against the grip. She wanted to go back to her parents. To the people who cared about her and were supposed to protect her.
"Let me go." He snarled in a mocking tone, lifting her up to his eyes by the back of her shirt. "I'll tell you what, why don't instead of just crushing you I eat you? You look like a decent little morsel." His large mouth curled into a sneer.
Cara locked eyes onto his giant teeth and began to imagine each one biting down, crushing her completely. More tears began to run down her face as she started screaming and crying, continuing to fight against him.
"My my, someone likes that idea." The giant man snickered and carried the tiny human child over to a pot of boiling water he had prepared an hour earlier.
Cara stared at the boiling water below her and slowly closed her eyes as tears fell from her face, making tiny ripples in the water below. "I...I can't d-do anything." She whispered. "Y-You too b-big. C-Can I ask just one thing, please, I'm begging you."
The man hesitated, his eyes glancing to the human. "Fine. But make it quick." He hissed, bringing her shaking form closer to the water.
"B-Before you cook me i-in the stew and at me...c-can I please g-give my baby brother a funeral?"
The giant's hand stopped moving to the water and he had to process what she had asked. Most humans begged him, pleaded with him not to kill them. But this young girl, all she wanted before he ate her was to give her brother a funeral.
For some reason, the selflessness touched his cold heart and his gaze slowly turned towards the human. "Very well." He mumbled, his tone now different from what it had been. "But it's going to be quick."
"Th-Thank you," Cara whispered and used the sleeve of her shirt to wipe her eyes. But why the giant decided to let her she would never know.
