"Are you sure...that's the one you want?" Mark mumbled to his young daughter who was peering into the human's cases excitedly, pointing to one wearing dark glasses. "She can't see."
"But daddy!" Carla whined, turning to face her father with a pout. "She's perfect! Please? Pretty, pretty please?" She pleaded, both hands gripping his as she bounced up and down, making the glass pens on the shelf rattle.
"The appearance of the please should really not affect my answer. But I don't want you getting bored within a week and possibly killing the human." He mumbled, glancing back to the cases of humans with a slight scowl. He didn't know why he brought her here in the first place.
Carla folded her arms over her chest and looked back into the case at the female human. "Hi, there! Um, human that can't see?"
Kendra flinched slightly but knew that the girl was just trying to get her attention and didn't know her name, so she turned her head hopefully in direction of where the voice came from, but the snickers from the other humans in the case showed otherwise. But then she heard the girl giggle and turned her head in the other direction. "I'm sorry." She said apologetically, rising to her feet and feeling her way to the glass wall keeping her and the Giants separated.
"Why are you sorry?" Carla asked, watching the human with a smile then looked back to her father. "Daddy, please?"
Kendra only listened closely, knowing that they were going to walk away like any other Giant that would look at her. They'd see her, talk a bit, then walk away when they realized she was blind. It's not like she asked to be born this way.
WEll, sure enough, a few seconds later footsteps walked away from the case and she hung her head as tears dripped out from under the glasses. The little girl seemed so kind too. She just wants out of this pen and to be able to feel fresh air again.
Suddenly something curled around her body, and she immediately recognized it as a hand. Her sadness turned into confusion when she once again heard the Giant child's voice. "Thank you, daddy!" She felt shifted into softer, gentler hands and slowly looked upward, wondering just where she was now. "You're my human now! I'll take good care of you, and we can play dress up, and play hide and seek!" She heard a happy giggle and was rather nervous to question the games listed, but when she heard an unhappy male voice she didn't have to.
"She can't seek Carla."
"Oh...but I can!" Carla responded to her father as he paid and hurried out the door. She followed happily, gripping the female human in a gentle fist. "Do you have a name?" She asked curiously, delicately pinching the human's hand and moving it curiously. To her she was like a little doll, only moving and breathing.
Kendra felt slightly uncomfortable, being poked and prodded like a toy. But she knew the kid was curious and decided to play along. "Oh, um, my name is Kendra." She said softly, flinching as she was forced to her back in the Giant's hand.
"I'm Carla." The young girl hummed, smiling widely as she observed the human, using her finger to make her lie on her back. She'd never held a human before, and it really was like a doll. She could control its every movement.
About ten minutes later, Kendra made a slight 'oof' sound when she was deposited onto a hard surface. She wishes she could see where she was, but scuffling made her look around in hope of figuring out what was making the noises. "C-Carla?" She stuttered out.
"I'm still here. You're in my dollhouse. I want to play." The Giant child giggled and Kendra stiffened with a deep frown, understanding.
"W-Well I can't really play dolls at this height." She took a small step back wherever she was standing but found herself suddenly gripped in the girl's hand again.
"No, but you can play a doll." Carla said with a wide grin, holding the human in a loose fist and picking up a frilly doll's gown from her toy bin. "I think this will fit just perfectly, and you'll look so pretty! Please?"
Kenda felt a chill run down her spine and hesitantly agreed. Maybe being locked in that glass cage wouldn't have been so bad after all.
