Unbelievable

I leaned back on the couch, taking a deep breath through my nose. Finally, I had managed to get another chapter of 'Sweet Songbird' up and didn't have to worry about taking too long. I tried to do that, avoid taking too long to post another chapter, but sometimes I don't have the motivation or I don't know what really to write, or I'm just plain procrastinating.

Borrowers, Fairies, Tinies, Mini's. No matter what you call them, it's all just so...amazing. To imagine holding a living, breathing being in the palm of your hand, or to fit in the palm of a massive person that could either crush you in an instant or save your life and be a good friend.

I freeze, having seen something scurry across the floor in my peripheral vision. With the living room being a mess from my niece, my first instant thought was a mouse. My mom hates mice. But then t moved again, right in front of my eyes. I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing as a very tiny figure ran from behind a bag of blocks towards a toy car and ducked behind it.

I had to be dreaming. Was this really happening? "H-Hey." I stuttered out, certain my eyes were the size of golf balls by now. Having literally just seen 'The Secret World of Arrietty' I decide to take Shawn's approach to the whole thing. "Wait. Are you a Borrower?" I ask, trying to sound as soft and gentle as I possibly could. "My name is Jordan."

There was no response from the being I had seen, nor did it take a chance to run. Very slowly I rise to my feet, taking small steps towards the small car. "I won't hurt you, I promise. I'll just help you. Do you have a name?" I stopped where I was close enough to see black hair poking over the side, but didn't dare step any closer.

Once again, silence. I didn't want to just reach out and grab the poor thing. But after all, anything to do with tiny being's is my specialty. "I'm going to pick you up," I mumble, stretching my arm out towards the being before s sharp pain shot through my hand and I yank it back to see a small thumb tack pushed into my palm. "Looks like I'm not the only one who watched Arrietty last night huh?" I say through the pain, pulling the tack out and meeting the tiny eyes below me that stare back with fury, masking obvious fear.

"Ya know what, I think I'd prefer a tiny Sebastian Michaelis. Why couldn't you have been a tiny Sebastian Michaelis?" I whine, watching the stern expression falter for only a moment. Sworn I could have heard a tiny giggle. "You're a girl, right? You're pretty. I really won't hurt you, what's your name?"

"I-I think a tiny demon would be more dangerous than a Borrower." The tiny female spoke, and I smile at the knowledge of it.

"You might be right. I'm going to ask again, what's your name?" I slowly lower myself to my knees, the tiny being keeping careful watch on me the whole time.

"Genevieve. But y-you can call me Ginny." She responded. Now I take my hand and begin to reach for her, but she cringed away in fear. "P-Please don't hurt me, don't touch me."

"Hmm. Don't touch you? Okay, here." I lie my hand palm up on the carpet, smiling. "If you step onto my hand, you're the one that's touching me. And I'm not going to hurt you."

"You kn-know that isn't how it works right?" Ginny said softly, sounding more annoyed than fearful now.

I had to not smile at the stutter. Writing them was a lot different than hearing them. It was so freaking adorable, it was taking all my strength not to scoop up the little dear and fawn over her. "Yeah, I know. But I think this will be the start of a beautiful friendship."
