Cassie waited excitedly outside of her school at the end of the day. Sitting patiently on a bench near the border of the two schools, she was ready to go and get some Ice Cream with her five new friends.
Deciding to walk around while she waited, Cassie left her black backpack on the bench and began to walk along the border. She told Karen about the boys and her friend was jealous that Cassie gets to go with the cute guys and she doesn't.
Smiling to herself, Cassie began humming as she walked along the border. Just as she turned a corner, a rough hand gripped her shoulder and wheeled her around, forcing her to stare into the face of Ben, the school's top jock. He was glaring down at her angrily. "B-Ben." She stuttered, pushing his hand off of her.
"I heard you've got some 'friends' that belong to the Giant race now? Really? And they're cute? Come on, they're giant freaks. The only reason we live peacefully is that we're all scared to do anything!" He hissed. "Besides, humans belong with humans. So I suggest you leave my girlfriend out of this." He mumbled with a growl in his tone.
Cassie, being the sensitive one that she is couldn't form words to try and defend herself. Instead, frustrated tears welled in her eyes as she tried to fight them off. She was behind the building so no one would see them if he wound up doing something to her.
The sky seemed to darken all around them and Ben gave a slight yelp, staring behind Cassie.
"What are you doing to her?" A familiar male voice questioned from above them, and a smile fell onto Cassie's face.
"A-Alan!" She turned around, smiling up at the five Giant teen boys. "Andrew, Jackson, Michael, John!" It didn't take much to see they were behind the border, they were just big enough to see above the building.
"Hey shorty," Andrew said with a grin. "I didn't think you'd be the type to pick fights! Especially behind buildings where no one could see you kick his ass!" He joked as he lowered his hand across the border and right beside Cassie, laughing at Ben as he scrambled away.
Awkwardly crawling into his palm, Cassie shook her head. "You guys got here just in time." She muttered, using a hand to wipe the few tears that escaped. "I hate fighting."
A shaggy blond-haired boy, John, turned his head to look at her. "Don't worry. You won't have to worry about seeing any more of that."
The five nodded, the timid Michael piping up. "C-Can um, can I carry her? I-I mean, I don't want to accidentally hurt her. Oh shit, what if I hurt her?!" His eyes widened and Cassie laughed.
"It's okay Michael, just use an open palm like Andrew's doing and I'll be okay. I promise." She smiled reassuringly up at the gentle Giant boy.
"Okay," Michael whispered, carefully scooping Cassie into his own palm. "Oh, how is she supposed to eat any? Our spoons are way too big for humans." He questioned, turning his gaze to his friends as they all walked onto the sidewalk.
"Obviously one of us will have to feed her." Andrew teased with a grin. "I volunteer. She's cute anyway."
"No way, I said something so I'd get to!" Michael exclaimed with a whine in his tone.
"You're both acting like kids so I should do it," Alan grumbled.
Cassie looked back and forth between the three, a deep frown on her face as they continued bickering. She didn't know whether to interrupt or not.
The argument eventually ceased, and they arrived at the ice cream parlor and took a seat at an outside table, Michael reluctantly setting Cassie down onto the glass top.
"So who's going to get the ice cream?" John mumbled, glancing at the other four.
"Why don't we send Cassie? Do you know how weird a look she'd get from the cashier after saying she wants six chocolate shakes with the Halloween swirl in them?" Andrew murmured before cracking up at his own stupid joke.
Jackson, the tall quiet one rolled his eyes and smiled, rising to his feet and walked away. Just as he walked away, Michael opened his mouth and had to say something.
"So, Cassie, there's a dance at our own school and I was wondering if you'd like to go with me." He asked shyly, using a hand to rub the back of his neck nervously.
Before she even got a chance to answer, the other three boys interrupted. "Whoa! I told you I was going to ask!" John snapped at his friend.
"It's funny because I was thinking the same thing," Andrew mumbled, his cheery tone being replaced by a dark one.
Cassie, unable to stand the fighting rose to her feet with a frown. "Stop it!" She shouted, looking up at the four boys. "I-I literally just met you guys earlier today. And I'm really not looking for a relationship. Besides, if I chose one of you I could hurt another's feelings. And I don't want to lose friends I just got over something so petty." She lowered her head as tears threatened to break through once again.
The boys turned to each other before each one frowned, Alan turning his gaze to Cassie. "Damn. I suppose you're right. We didn;t think about the position we were putting you in. Plus, Giant's arguing must be pretty scary being that small."
Cassie nodded slowly, looking at Andrew, Michael, and John. "Are we all agreed?" She asked softly, watching them nod even though it was obvious they didn't want to. But she was glad, that for her sanity they wouldn't do that.
Jackson came back and placed the chocolate ice cream shakes on the table, holding an extra spoon in his own hand for Cassie. "Have we come to an agreement?" He asked, looking around the table.
Andrew, Michael and John all looked at him before Alan took the spare spoon. "I'll take care of it. Someone has to do it so she doesn't come here with us for nothing."
Cassie simply smiled, nodding. Sure, the Giant town was frightening but now she has five new friends. Ones that she knows she can count on, even after just meeting them.
