I realized I've never done a fairy one before! This isn't the best, but I'm tired. Insomnia, yay!
Arlette shivered against the cold, fighting the extreme tiredness she felt as she flew past falling snowflakes. Her wings felt like they were frozen, and she knew she needed to find warmth soon.
In the distance, there was a cabin, a light shining through the snowflakes that looked so warm and inviting. But if there was light, there was a human. And if there was a human, that means there is danger.
Her heart grew wary, and her brain told her to keep flying and hope for something else. Her gut, however, said this would be her last chance, and she needed to go there. She began to get scared as she neared the light. If she were to get caught, what would the human do to her? Sell her? Rip her wings out? Her wings are the one thing she has that she feels like she can't live without.
The window was open a very small crack. Unsure why she was just glad that she was able to get inside the warm cabin. A fire was lit in the fireplace, and a steaming cup of something was placed on a small table next to a rocking chair.
Flittering over to the cup, she landed carefully on the tabletop. Immediately the warmth of the fire began to heat her cold limbs and wings. It was wonderful. The tingling sensation began to leave her fingers. But now she turned toward the cup of warm liquid. What could it be?
Arlette looked around the large room. While her wings were warming up, she simply jumped to get a peek inside of the mug. The liquid was a murky brown with white lumps resting on the surface. Taking a deep inhale, she could smell...chocolate?
Rich couldn't believe what he was seeing. Standing on the table was what looked to be a fairy, but they don't exist, do they? He decided to watch her and simply stand silently. She looked cold and looked like she was enjoying the warmth of the fire. The tiny thing was even drinking his hot chocolate.
It was when her tiny eyes locked onto him did he finally move. "You're a fairy." He whispered in disbelief as he slowly began to approach her, hoping not to startle her.
Arlette let out a frightened whimper, quickly stepping back on the table as the human got closer and closer. She'd fly, but her wings were still freezing and if she tried she had a feeling they would rip. "S-Stay back, please."
"Stop." Rich frowned, watching the tiny girl back away from him. She was nearing the edge of the table.
Again letting out another soft whimper, she wasn't paying attention until her foot suddenly didn't have anything underneath it, and she started to fall backward with a startled scream.
"Shit!" Rich dove forward, landing on his stomach with his hands outstretched, catching the fairy before she could hit the ground. "Are you okay?!"
Arlette didn't know how to respond, whispering to herself and trying to assure herself that she was alive. But now she was in the hands of a human, and she could be as good as dead. "Wh-Why did you save me?" She stuttered out, forcing herself to look up at the human.
"Why wouldn't I have?" Rich asked with furrowed brows as he replaced the tiny being on the table. "I'm Rich. You look pretty cold still. Maybe I could find you a thimble, or an old beer cap to use as a cup if you want some hot chocolate."
This was odd. All the stories she'd heard about humans being terrifying monsters that only care about themselves weren't proving themselves here. He saved her, and now he's offering more of that sweet drink that's in the cup? "I-I-" Unable to form words, Arlette only nodded her head and watched the human walk out of the room to another in the cabin.
Slowly she lowered herself to her knees, her small violet eyes wide with fear and shock. At least she was out of the cold.
