A light knock on his bedroom door made Carl turn to see his mom standing in the doorway with Terry and Mckenna. "Sweetie, your friends came to see you." The soft-spoken woman said with her usual kind smile.

"Yeah, thanks." Carl stood from his bed. He and his friends planned on going to the lake again, so he could be a giant comfortably. "Are you guys ready to go?"

"Actually," Mckenna started after Carl's mother left the room. "You've shown us you being a giant, but we were talking, and are curious about you being tiny. Can we...well, can we see?"

Taken aback by the request, Carl carefully stuttered out his answer. "U-Uh, I don't know guys. It's kinda scary. To me at least. And I don't really like doing that one." He reached up, rubbing the back of his neck and took a deep breath.

"Do you not trust us?" Terry asked and sat with his legs crossed on the ground. "You should be able to trust us, we're your friends. We'd never hurt you, just like you wouldn't hurt us even though you were kind of a giant before."

Carl looked back and forth between his friends with a slight frown.  "It's not that I don't trust you, it's just...well..." He trailed off and exhaled heavily. "Okay, just, give me some space and don't grab me okay?"

"Deal!" Mckenna and Terry both said at the same time, both trying to reassure their friend it will be just fine.

Carl took another deep breath and closed his eyes as his limbs began to tingle. He could feel his muscles tighten. His ears popped. He felt like he was falling. And when he opened his eyes, his two best friends towered over him by what felt like miles.

"Wow," Mckenna whispered, leaning in to get a better look at her now tiny friend, but her amazement turned to worry as Carl cringed away from her and Terry both. "Carl, are you okay?" She asked, trying to sound as gentle as she could. When she didn't get a response from her five-inch tall friend, her fingers delicately encircled his tiny frame and lifted him up from the carpeted floor.

"I-I said don't grab me!" Carl squeaked, suddenly fighting against the girl's giant fingers.

"Carl, please calm down. It's okay, I-I'm not going to hurt you. You didn't answer me, I got worried." Slowly, she lowered him back to the floor and cast a slightly sad look to Terry. "We shouldn't have asked him to do this."

"Agreed," Terry turned his head from Mckenna to Carl. "Sorry dude...we were just curious. We didn't mean to scare you or anything like that. We are your friends after all."

Carl remained silent, his breathing shaky but he took a deep enough breath to talk. "N-Not your guys' fault. It's fine. Just a little paranoid. M-Move me to the bed?" He asked, not liking really standing on the floor like this.

Terry and Mckenna looked at each other again, and this time Terry's hand came down and lifted the miniature Carl into his palm. Carefully, he carried his tiny friend to the bed and deposited him onto the pillow.

Carl didn't like being picked up. He never liked it. It was mostly ruined by his sister being a jerk a few years ago. His sister had tricked him into shrinking then locked him inside of a jar in the fridge for ten minutes, but it felt like hours. "Thanks, guys. I'm sorry." He apologized quietly, avoiding looking at his friends.

"As we said when you were giant, don't worry, we're your friends and we could never hate, or be scared of you, okay?" Mckenna said with a gentle smile, watching Carl fidget below her.

"Okay." Carl said with a meek smile, glad to have friends like them.
