Sebastian placed the cooked fish onto the teacup saucer. It still wasn't small enough for Mary, but it would have to do. The poor little creature looked practically starved to death to begin with.
Mary situated herself on the vast bed, her violet eyes scanning the butler's bedroom. It was so plain. Nothing like the mansion she had been in before. But it was a shelter. A place she can currently call home. It was so warm, and the sounds of the night were much less frightening when she was inside.
The door opening made her jump, and she turned to see the familiar crimson eyed man standing in the doorway with a small plate. The smell caught her attention, and she shot to her feet with a wide grin. "It's fish!" She exclaimed, her black tail flicking back and forth as she eyed the plate hungrily.
The butler had to hold back a chuckle at the tiny Neko, and he approached the side of the bed. "You are correct, little miss. Go ahead and sit back down so you do not tip the plate over." He spoke in a gentle tone, one he never used with the other three servants.
"Thank you, sir," Mary said softly, using her hands to pull off a piece of the tender meat. She dug right in, the flavor coating her taste buds. It was simply wonderful. Much better than what she would pull out of trashcans in that alley.
"Please, I've told you, just call me Sebastian. Sir makes me sound like I am important, but I am simply one hell of a butler." Sebastian bowed at his waist, his raven hair falling into his eyes as they were fixated on the black haired neko's ears which were twitching happily. Absolutely adorable in his own opinion.
It wasn't long before Mary had finished the portion of salmon she was given, and she went to wipe her hands on her dress but instead made a slight yelping noise as his large hand stopped her from doing so.
"Please, I just got you that dress, don't dirty it already. Use my handkerchief." Sebastian pulled the white cloth from his pocket, wiping off the Neko's hands for her. He was gentle, using delicate swiping motions to ensure he did not harm her scarred and blistered hands.
Mary watched in amazement at how gentle he was despite how much smaller she was than him. "Thank you." She muttered softly, looking up and meeting his crimson eyes with a soft smile perched on her lips. "Y-You're very kind."
Kind. If only she knew the truth, she may not feel that way. Sebastian sighs and simply smiles down at her. "I am not worthy of such praise, Miss Mary."
Smiling, the black-haired Neko laid down on the butler's bed, curling into a ball with her tail wrapping around her legs. She thought about how full her stomach was, how warm she was, and how thankful she is to have found someone like him. Sleep has never come easier to her than it did tonight.
The ruby-eyed butler looked on with a slight smile, getting a clean handkerchief from his drawer and draping it over her like a blanket. Cats are simply perfect creatures.
