Gwen and Wilson are pizza9798's characters. Penelope is my own. This has been in the making for a month or two now...maybe more.

Penelope stepped out of her apartment, dressed in a light blue jogging suit, black sneakers, and her pastel pink hair pulled up into a ponytail. She was going on a run, that much was obvious, and it was such a nice day out that she felt like for once she should also hike and run through the nearby woods. They were only a mile or two away, and she could handle that distance easily.

So, she did. She jogged down the sidewalk, through a back alley, and simply enjoying the warm morning sun on her face. Getting out when hardly anyone was awake was her favorite time to jog. No one would bother her.

Penny's plan was to run through the entire path through the woods, but it was clear to her around halfway, she wasn't going to finish her run.

Her path ahead was blocked by a shape, hidden partially by trees. As she neared, she could see that this shape was, in fact, a large yellow and orange cockatiel bird. And by large, it was ginormous. More than twice her size.

Its head cocked in her direction, and she fell back in surprise to the ground. Those huge beady eyes watched her, then without warning, the giant creature lunged forward and snatched her up by the back of her light blue shirt.

"Wh-Whoa, h-hey! Bad bird!" Penelope squirmed a little, only to stop when she was carried high above the ground by this bird. Normally, she loved birds. Birds, mice, smaller creatures that were so delicate yet beautiful. Now she felt the tables were dramatically turned.

Penelope wasn't afraid of heights. She wasn't afraid of a lot of things. But being dangled so far over the ground, trusting nothing but the grip of some huge bird made her heart pound in fear.

The bird had only been flying for maybe ten minutes, but it felt like hours. The cockatiel kept rising higher and higher until the clouds blocked Penny's vision of the world below. All the was under her now was a thin layer of nothing but misty water vapor, but at least it didn't feel so high anymore.

When the nineteen-year-old lifted her head, she sucked in a sharp breath. The bird was flying straight toward a palace that looked like something out of a fairytale. It was designed in a way that she always loved. Fantasies and fairytales were always a big thing for her, but this wasn't a normal sized palace. It was big enough to fit beings big enough that the bird carrying her looked normal.

The large animal flew right into an open window as if it owned the entire building, and Penny was met with an astonishing sight.

The room was gigantic and decorated with expensive toys, plush carpet, and a chair set beside a bookshelf that didn't have a speck of dust on it; this clearly showed it was used often. "Where...where have you brought me?" She muttered, her multi-colored eyes scanning the large room.

"Wilson!" A young, feminine voice excitedly squealed. The form of a large girl hurried into the room, and she couldn't be any more than ten, maybe eleven years old.

The sight terrified Penny, and she didn't know how she should react, what she should say, do, or even think.

"Oh, Wilson! You brought another one!" The girl's hands clasped together, her huge pools sparkling excitedly as they gazed at Penelope. One of the large hands -bigger than Penny herself- stretched forward and curled around the pink-haired female. The other lifted a rather large almond and gave it to the cockatiel.

Penny's breath hitched in her throat, her multicolored eyes staring up at the giant girl. She was terrified, nervous, curious. How was this possible? Giants don't exist! Yet, here she was, fingers her size wrapped around her with large iris's observing her.

It sent a chill down her spine. It was like a child who was observing a new toy.

"My name is Gwen! Wilson brought you here so you could be my friend! What's your name?" The large child giggled out, unfurling around the human and letting her rest in an open palm while her fingers gently pet her hair.

Penny was never one to judge. How could she, when she was just as different? "P-Penelope, b-but Penny works just as fine," she stuttered out. Surprisingly the touch was rather gentle, but it was still unnerving. "F-Friend? Wh-Where are your parents?"

Gwen's cheery smile faltered, but only for a moment. "Mama and papa are busy all the time, they don't have to play with me. But they give me lots of toys, see?!" She gestured around the room with her free hand. "They don't like when I'm too loud though, so I gotta be quiet. You too, shh." She rested a fingertip on her lips now, before giggling. Then, her eyes widened. "Oh my goodness! Your hair is pink!"

Penelope felt her chest tighten. She was always a kindhearted person, and with growing up the way she did, she hated to hear someone else experience an upsetting life. How could parents treat their own child that way? Even her own mother had cared for and supported each choice she made. How did this girl seem so carefree with a story like this?

When Gwen mentioned her hair, Penny raised a hand to play with the long pastel strands. "O-Oh, yeah, I colored it pink. I like the color a lot."

"It's a pretty color," Gwen complimented with a giggle, "like bubblegum!"

"Y-Yeah, like bubblegum," Penelope laughed breathily. Maybe it isn't so bad. The kid seems a little off, but friendly all the same. And with her parents acting the way she says they do, she had a feeling it would be a good idea to give the girl a temporary friend. It wouldn't be fair to give her anything less.
