She was beautiful. She is beautiful. Anyone could see that. But she was an elf. You were a low, but humble, son of man. However, you proved yourself to Arwen - she admired you greatly. She was merely scared by the fact that you would die, just like a lover before you had. She didn't want to deal with the pain and you didn't want her to feel like she had to be tied down just to you after you died, just like she felt when Aragorn had passed.
You would only admire the beautiful maiden from afar; that would be enough for you. You thought if you could only be her friend until her death, you would be alright. Everything would be okay. But your love for her only would grow. She would become more beautiful as the days passed. You simply stayed quiet as you knew your life was dwindling away; you only asked her to remember fondly of you; her beautiful mind would never forget.
