Elrond hated seeing his daughter, Arwen, go. He knew how losing your older sister to a mere human would bother you to no end. He wanted you to be happy as well. His children's' happiness was the most important thing - as long as it was reasonable. However, he knew he would not be able to make you happy. You had to find it yourself and he really hoped that there would soon be someone there who would sweep you off your feet . . . or at least, something to give you a taste of adventure.
