When the words left the man's lips, all Legolas could do was stare.  He wouldn't say a word - he couldn't.  He didn't know what to say.  His wife was gone.  There was nothing they could do to get her back.  Legolas slowly sunk down onto the ground, his eyes staring off into nowhere.  He didn't know what to do.

"Legolas," Aragorn softly said, a frown gracing his features.  "There . . . is someone you should meet."  Legolas looked up at his friend and he slowly stood back up; Aragorn led him into the bedroom his love's body rested in.  A small baby rested in an Elven woman's arms.  She glanced up at the prince, a sorrow-filled expression on his face.

"Who is this?" tears laced Legolas' eyes as he tried not to cry.

"The princess requested you name her Aranel," the maid softly said, moving to hand the prince the small child.  Legolas held back a soft sob as he took the baby, looking down at her.  He had to be strong for his wife . . . she had given him a child.  A child that looked exactly like his deceased wife.  Legolas let out a soft noise, taking a deep breath.

"Aranel it is," he softly said, holding the small Elven child to his chest.  He squeezed his eyes shut; he wasn't ever going to let this child go.
