The Land of Light, Tara, was one of the biggest kingdom in the world. It was called 'light' since there was a huge diamond nailed at the highest tower of the palace.
No need to worry about the thief. Those diamond had a same weight as a baby whale so even though someone succeeded from passing hundreds of guards who protected the castle, no one would be able to lift it up. Thinking about how to climb the roof and passing the guards were terrified enough already.
The diamond shone so brightly beneath the sun and sparkled gloriously from the moonlight. It was a symbol that the light of the city would never be dimmed.
Unlike the other kingdoms, Tara was ruled by a Lady. A Queen. The King, unfortunately, had passed away years ago.
In this city, a woman named Gemma Maynhard lived.
Though the city was called 'light', Gemma didn't live in the glory side of the city, the side where the wealthy people and the royalties lived.
She lived beneath the shadow of the light, in the suburbs of the City with another poor people.
If the people in the central town built their house from stone and iron, the suburbs people made their house from thin woods or boxes, if they poor enough. Their roof was covered with thick plastic, avoiding the rain to become their enemy. So not all of the people in Tara was brightened by the light. Ironic.
Mostly, people who lived in this place was the worker for the people from the central town.
Gemma was one of them.
She just came home from a bakery store where she worked.
Her job was simple. She just had to ask what the customer wanted, write it down clearly in a piece of paper and wrap them inside the brown paper bag.
It would be easy if the store wasn't filled by customers every hours.Gemma passed the neighborhood with exhausted body. She even forgot how to smile when some neighbors called her name.
As formality, Gemma just nodded. She finally arrived at her house. It just a two floors wooden house.
In the ground floor, the tight living room was placed side by side with the kitchen and there was no dining room. At the upper floor, there were two small rooms and a bathroom.
It's more than enough for people in the suburbs.
They didn't need entertainment room or a huge hall. They just needed a good matress.
They worked six days a week, nine to ten hours a day. The thing they liked was a peaceful day in bed.Gemma pushed the front door and it opened instantly.
Another advantages of living in this part of the town.
No one would ever try to steal from you because there was nothing to take. The door made a loud crack and Gemma pushed it closed with her leg. Too lazy to use her hands.
She just dropped the bag anywhere and walked to the kitchen.
Gemma just opened the first compartment when someone was coming out from one of the rooms.
Since it wasn't a fancy house, Gemma could easily looked up and saw someone was leaning against the banister of the second floor."Hey, Sister! How's work??"
Stared at the man, Gemma didn't understand why her brother never bother to comb his hair. His copper hair was as messy as always. But Gemma heard some girls were talking about him excitedly.
His name was Arka Maynhard.
Her older brother. Just six minutes older than Gemma herself.
If Arka had copper hair, Gemma was ginger. Though they were twins, the only thing that made they looked like each other was their eyes.
They had hazel eyes. The brown was so light so people could see the black line around the irises.Gemma sighed as she closed the compartment. "Good. Mr. Geer was in the good mood and he gave me some leftovers from the store." She said as she reached back for her bag.
