"Lord Arnev!!"

Geer's yeel made Gemma looked up from her job from arranging the cake.
She saw Geer was walking toward a man and he was smiling to Geer.

Gemma stunned for a moment when her eyes landed to the man Geer called Arnev.
The man had a pair of bright blue eyes. It was so blue and Gemma almost could hear the sound of the waves by seeing him.

But he must be not from Tara. Blue eyes in Tara was rare. Almost impossible.
Gemma moved her gaze to the man's hair and clothes. His black raven hair and his clothes were enough for Gemma to notice that he's from The City of Sea, Veron.

The fact made Gemma's heart suddenly thumped faster. Anxiety filled her blood and the only thing she wanted was getting away from there.
This man, no matter how attractive his eyes were, was one of the person who tried to find her brother.
And Gemma didn't want to have a contact with any of them.

Unfortunately, luck was not on her side that day.
Gemma just finished her work and was about to dissappear to the kitchen when Geer called her name.

Gemma cursed under her breath and she took a deep breath, kept her face flat before turning her body and found herself was facing Geer and their guest.
Seeing his blue eyes again, Gemma couldn't help but froze on her spot, for a moment forgot about her worry about this man and Gemma had to admit that he was charming.
Another thing he realized was Arnev's so tall.
It's strange. Arka and Denish were tall as well but this man made Gemma felt so small in front of him.
Gemma quickly gained her control and blinked her eyes once.

"Yes, Mr. Geer?" Gemma answered his call earlier.

"Gemma, this is Lord Arnev. He just arrived from Veron two days ago." Geer said, introducing the man to her.

Gemma bowed stiffly to the man, showed her respect and the man bowed back, offered his smile.
The other girls might be had melted seeing his dazzling smile but not Gemma. Though Lord Arnev was gorgeous, Gemma wouldn't fall for him that easy.

"He wants to buy some breads, Gemma. So I want you to assist him, okay?" Geer ordered and Gemma held herself from rolling her eyes.

It would be uneasy to hide her hatred about it.

Without waiting for her reply, Geer turned to Arnev.
"There, My Lord. Gemma here will help you. Please, take a look as much as you want."

"Sure, Mr. Geer. I'm sure Lady Gemma here will be a great company." Arnev said, made Gemma scolded inside.

'Great'? How could he say that word?

Geer left both of them a moment later and Gemma didn't want to spend her time with him any longer.
She took an empty tray and a bread tongs.
"What do you want, Sire?" Gemma asked as polite as she could.

Gemma knew she had to suppress her hatred toward him or Arnev would get suspicious at her. She told herself many times to act normal but thinking about it was easier than doing it.

Arnev once again showed her his smile and Gemma started to feel uncomfortable about it. He acted friendly toward her because he didn't know her. If he knew, Gemma sure that smile would disappear from his face.
"For the start, may I have six bagels, please, Lady Gemma?"

Gemma snorted a bit. "Just Gemma please, My Lord." She said, walking to the rack when they placed the bagels.

Arnev smirked, followed her. "What happens with 'Lady'? Do you feel uncomfortable with that?"

"Something like that." Gemma mumbled. She put six bagels to the tray she's holding then turned to Arnev again.
"Anything else, Sire?" She asked.

"Yes, Lady Gemma. A dozen of muffins, seven croissants and five pies." Arnev answered, intentionally using the 'lady' word again.

Gemma sighed a bit, told herself to be patience about this man.
She walked to the rack held the muffins.
"Butter or chocolate?" Gemma asked since there were two different flavors of muffin there.

"Hm..which one do you like?" Arnev asked back, made Gemma raised her eyebrow at him.

"Well, personally I like the butter better but it's not me who's going to eat it." Gemma said, tried so hard to use her sarcastic tone.

Arnev chuckled lightly. "Maybe not. But I trust your judgement. Give me the butter one then."

Biting her tongue, Gemma started to take the muffins. It was getting harder since the tray now was heavier.
Arnev noticed it and became a gentleman, he took the tray from Gemma, gaining a protest from her.
"No, no. I'm fine." Gemma said, wanted to claim the tray back.

But Arnev placed it out of her reach. "Nope, I will take this."

Gemma groaned. "You don't understand! Mr. Geer won't be pleased seeing it and he will be mad at me."

"I will tell him that this is my doing. Relax, Gemma. He won't blame you." Arnev assured her, finally calling her by her name.

Gemma still disliked it and she mumbled something lowly but Arnev felt like he heard her said 'stubborn' under her breath and he couldn't help himself from smiling.

Arnev kept his eyes on Gemma, seeing the girl moved from one rack to another, filled his order.
Unlike the other girls, Arnev noticed Gemma had no make up applied on her face. It was really her.
Just by seeing her appearance, Arnev knew Gemma wasn't a people with a lot of money but she definitely someone that Arnev would classify as attractive.

Arnev had a feeling that Gemma didn't like him too much though he didn't know what he did wrong.

"I didn't see you here yesterday." Arnev suddenly said, made Gemma frowned her forehead in confusion.
"I bought breads yesterday. Twice. But it wasn't you who served the customer." He added.

Gemma seemed understand. Of course he didn't see her yesterday. The whole morning she was busy delivering the breads and the afternoon, she purposely didn't want to deal with the Veron people.
Gemma glanced up at Arnev and saw him expecting an answer.
"Um.. Mr. Geer asked me to do something else yesterday."

"I see." He said but his eyes still locked on her. "So, how long have you work here?"

Gemma tilted her head a bit. "Um.. Two years I guess. I don't know. I didn't count it." She said.
She placed the last pie on the tray then took it from Arnev.
"I'll put it on the box." She said and walked to the her usual post.

Arnev came closer and leaned down to the counter, watching Gemma placed the bread one by one inside the box.
"Do you like working here, Gemma?"

"I have work here for two years, My Lord. If I don't like it, I won't be here that long, don't you think?"

Arnev chuckled again. He liked the way Gemma talk to him. She didn't care was he a royal or not. She talked to him like a human to another human, no status needed.

"There!" Gemma said happily since the breads had packed.
"Please, wait for a moment. I'll call Mr. Geer so you can pay for it."

"Gosh, are you trying to get rid of me, Gemma?" Arnev asked, curving the corner of her lips.
"You do not like me, don't you?"

Gemma rolled her eyes. "No, I'm not trying to banish you out of here. But please, don't take it too personal. I never like stranger." Then she pushed a door and disappeared behind it, leaving Arnev with a big grin on his lips.

By the time Gemma came back, Geer was following behind her.
"Ah, Lord Arnev, have you get everything you want?"

Arnev smiled to Geer as he nodded his head. "Yes, Mr. Geer. I got everything I need." He said, moved his gaze to Gemma when he said that.
After threw a pouch of coins to Geer, Arnev looked at Gemma again and she swore she saw him winked his eye before he left the store.

And Gemma didn't like the situation.
