"What's life for you, Gemma?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Just curious."

"I won't answer it just to fulfill your curiosity."

Kegan laughed. He rolled his body until he finally lied on his stomach and propped his upper body with his elbows.
On his side, at the bench across him. Gemma Maynhard was lying on another bench. It was similar with the one he was using right now. Between them, there's about five feet gap.
He nailed his gaze on her features.
Gemma was staring at the sky above them. Her hazel moved from one star to another like she was trying to count them.
Funny, the first thing people thought when they looked at the stars was how much the stars to be exactly.

It's uncountable, right?
Then another question popped out.
How the sky was strong enough to hold them all?
These kind of questions, unfortunately, weren't the type of questions Kegan liked to answer. Because he didn't know. For him, the sky and stars were destined there and it's so useless to question about it. He liked to question about the girl in front of him more.

Kegan still watched Gemma. Her eyes on the sky, hands calmly above her stomach. One leg straight on the bench and the other folded up a bit.
"So fierce. Like always. But...that's why I like you." Kegan finally responded.

Gemma sighed deeply but she didn't move her gaze from the dark blue sky. "Kegan! I'm not interesting to hear that!"

"I mean I like you as a friend." Kegan said, chuckled.
"Well, maybe more." He added after a long silence

Gemma groaned. "Stop the talk already. Can't you just shut up and look at the stars?"

"No. It makes me hungry."

Gemma rolled her eyes in annoyance. She pushed herself up until she sat on the bench. They're spending free time in the castle. In one of the garden with the fountain in the middle. The garden Gemma always wanted to see and now became reality.

"Then why did you bring me here?" Gemma scoffed. She never told Kegan about her interest to see the fountain. It's Kegan who showed the place himself.

"Hey, I was showing you the garden. It's your idea to do this stargazing!" Kegan said, defended himself.

"You can say no and we don't have to."

Kegan smirked. "Nope. I'm glad doing everything you do. I've told you. I like you." He said with wicked grin, knew the topic would piss her off.

Gemma pursed her lips. "You never know how it feels when flying boots hit your face, don't you? I can do one now."

Kegan laughed again, clearly he didn't take her threat as something serious. Gemma herself didn't know if she wanted to do it or not. If Kegan crossed the line, maybe she would.

The Prince stood up from his bench and walked to Gemma's. He lifted up her legs by the ankles and shoved her legs from the surface of the bench then claimed the seat beside her.
For a moment, Kegan's eyes were focusing at the fountain in front of them.

"I wonder what's life actually. Is it a gift or is it a task?" Kegan wondered.

"It is a curse." Gemma answered without hesitation, didn't bother herself to choose between the options Kegan said.
