"Gemma, my dear!!!!!!"
Gemma raised her eyebrow when Geer welcomed her in a different way. He usually made a comment for her like, 'Gemma, you're one minute from being late' or 'Gemma, you have to come earlier'. So it was normal if she felt scared with the difference.
"Come here, come, come!" Geer sang, waving his hand.
Gemma felt so heavy but she followed her boss anyway.Geer guided them to the workshop and Gemma noticed there were a few boxes of bread stacked on the table where Gemma and the other workers used as their lunch table.
It wrapped prettily and there was a gold ribbon on top of each box.
Gemma sure they were not for Nina. It's too much."What's that?" Gemma asked, pointed the boxes.
"Uh.. Breads of course." Geer answered, looking at Gemma like she just grew another head.
She rolled her eyes. "I know that, Mr. Geer. What are they for??"
Geer suddenly smiled widely. "Do you remember the breads we made for the Queen's birthday?"
Gemma nodded. Of course she did. She and the other workers had to work until morning just to fill the order.
"Well, the Queen loves it. She orders more herself." Geer said excitedly.
Gemma didn't sure about it. "Personally??"
"Well, no, she's not coming to my store and order them herself, no." Geer explained. "But one of her staff did."
"Alright, so what it has to do with me?" Gemma asked.
"Well, you, my dear, will be the one who deliver them to the palace." Geer said in happy tone.
Gemma snorted right away. "Why me? Zia or Mark can do it."
She didn't want to go to the palace at all. The wealth people area wasn't for her. She couldn't handle their blings.Geer tsked his tongue impatiently. "Jeez, nope!! From all of my workers, you're the only one who looks not too bad."
'Not too bad'?
Gemma didn't know should she feel grateful for the words or not.
She wasn't bad at all for sure. For a girl, actually Gemma was someone attractive. Even Nina once told her that she was quite pretty. But somehow, Gemma didn't believe it."So," Geer added. "You're the strongest candidate. They have to be taken now, Gemma. Move your ass lady, hurry up!"
Gemma still couldn't believe it but she couldn't say no either.
"Alright, fine! But I don't want to use the apron on the way."Geer didn't argue with her about that and Gemma knew it wasn't wise to make the Queen waiting for too long.
If she cancelled the order, Geer would be in trouble. So she would.Gemma put the boxes in a basket then she quickly walked out of the store.
It would be take a while to walk to the palace but when there was a carriage heading the same direction as her, Gemma joined the ride. The carriage finally entered the central town and Gemma couldn't help herself from looking around.
The buildings were so pretty. Mostly used white or cream as the color.
The buildings had so many windows and Gemma could see many kinds of store inside. She saw many women used beautiful dresses, some of them even used a pretty umbrella to protect their face from the sun.
Some used hats with wide edge and they had a pair of shiny earrings hanging on their ears.
