I came out in the living room to find Jake and Alex sitting by the fire, quietly.
“Gosh Jake, you’re still wet. You need to change. Let me get you a towel and some clothes to change up.” I smiled, coyly.
I knew Alex was eyeing my every move even though he pretended to be uninterested. I could smell the burning jealousy in the air. I enjoyed it.
Jake smiled and gave me a kiss on my cheek.
I ran up to Jake’s room and searched through his cupboard for some night clothes. As I was looking for a pair of socks, I opened a cabinet. I accidently dropped a bag from the top shelf and all the contents spilled to the floor. There were letters, dried roses and I love you cards. I was a bit surprised. Why would Jake be carrying this stuff with him? It definitely was not from Stacy. She wouldn’t even care to write such long letters.
I picked one up. It read something like………”How could you that to me? You knew how much I love you………..” It was from L. Davidson. The signature ink had been smudged, so it was impossible to make out the first name. Before I could read more properly, Jake entered.
“What a mess you’ve created babe! What are you looking for?”
I was a bit startled. “Nothing. This fell off. I’ll clean it up.”
“No, Don’t.” Jake looked a bit nervous now. He hurriedly shut down the cupboard. “I mean don’t worry about that. I’ll sort that out later.”
“Who are these letters from?”
“There was a girl in my school a few months ago. She liked me a lot. But I had no interest in her. Then she went crazy. She had an obsessive compulsive disorder. She used to stalk me everywhere. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t consider it important. I hope you believe me.”
“You don’t need to give any more explanations. I trust you.” I smiled.
It was a bit weird. I decided to ignore it. So what if Jake had a bunch of admirers? I decided to not question him any further.
The next week passed by looking after Jane. The thought of getting Ty back had thrilled Jane enough to recover faster than expected. Alex and Jake had been busy with work lately so I had got quite a time to myself and clean some stuff up inside my head.
“Hey, what’s this?” Jane asked, puzzled at the white envelope I handed her.
“Flight tickets. We’re going to Vegas baby!” I couldn’t control my excitement.
“When did that happen?”
“Jake and Alex are off to a business trip in Japan. I couldn’t find a better opportunity than this to meet Tyler. We’ll tell the boys we’re going on vacation.”
“Yay, you’re the best” Jane hugged me. “But how are we going to get him back?” She looked sad now.
“Leave that to me. Just do as I say. Even though I haven’t been in relationships myself for long, I can give a hell of advice.” I winked.
If we wanted Tyler’s attention, we needed to look gorgeous. Jane’s depression had made Jane forget who she was. She was Jane Parker. The Jane Parker. I needed to remind her that. The next day I scheduled an appointment with her personal spa and beauty salon. We had fun makeovers with her designer and shopped from the most exclusive brands.
“You need to stay at the hotel. I’ll go and meet Tyler.” I told Jane, on reaching Vegas.
“But why, I want to meet him too……..”
I interrupted. “Just go with it. Believe me.”
Jane trusted me and let me go alone.
