I looked at the mirror for the last time before leaving. The little black dress with red high heels wasn’t really necessary but it was the simplest article in my bag packed exclusively by Jane’s designer. Jane couldn’t help herself from laughing, seeing my irritated expression.

It wasn’t difficult to locate the Davidson Law Firm. Apparently, Tyler Davidson was a big name in town. I had to make sure Stacy wasn’t around for my plan to work.

I went to the reception and asked, “Can I meet Mr. Tyler Davidson in private?”

“Do you have an appointment?” The young guy at the reception asked me.

“It’s actually urgent”, I took off my sunglasses and batted my eyelashes, one of the many things I had learnt from Jane. “You know, Harry,” I continued, reading from his shirt, “I wouldn’t really ask for this if it wasn’t so awfully important. I’m sure you can fit me in your boss’ busy schedule.”

I attempted to flirt with the innocent guy. Well that was a first. I prayed to god for it to work. I couldn’t have my plan go down the drains. I needed to meet Tyler fast, before Jake and Alex returned.

“I think I could make that happen. One sec please.” He smiled.

He manipulated some entries in his computer and finally looked at me.

“I have set you up for a meeting in an hour. Would that work for you?” He eyed me, never even blinking. Okay, the designer had some talent.

“That’d be great. Don’t worry; I won’t take your name. My lips are sealed.” He chuckled.

“Hey, do you want to like have a drink while you wait? There’s a cool karaoke bar just down the block. It’s so boring here in the lobby. My shift ends in five minutes.”

“I think I’m good.” He sighed, embarrassed. I felt a bit guilty for playing with his emotions. The guy had done me a great favor. I should make it up to him. What did I have to lose anyway? I’m sure anything would be better than sitting here in this lobby. And I had more chances of bumping into Stacy here than anywhere else.

I turned back, to face the reception. “You know what? I’ll take you up on the offer.” He couldn’t help but smile.

“I’ll just change my uniform and meet you outside.” He quickly ran off.

As he was approaching towards me, I couldn’t help but notice his muscles glisten in the setting sun. He looked way more charming than I had first analyzed him to be. The cotton white shirt didn’t do a very good job at hiding his abs. For a moment, I saw Alex’s face in his. I felt as if Alex was walking up to me. The urge to hold Alex and never let him go was overcoming me. I felt a searing pain building up in my stomach. Déjà vu started. All the memories, the time I had spent with Alex, our first date, everything started flashing before me. I felt sick suddenly. My throat felt dry and everything came back to me. I realized I hadn’t stopped loving Alex. I had only managed to distract myself. I started moving back.

“Are you alright?” Harry asked me, nervously. I didn’t realize I was standing in the middle of the road until a car hit me. It wasn’t long before I blacked out.
