Oh my god! Not another teen story was #501 in Teen Fiction last week. Still cannot believe it. So thrilled and honored. Can we try and break the record this time?  That would be so amazing.

I woke up to find myself alone in the back seat. I got up panicky, and noticed Alex was driving in the front. I relaxed a bit but I could not see his face. Our last night’s encounter came to my memory and I smiled to delight. I looked at the watch. 6 pm? Holy shit I had been sleeping for the whole day, which means we should be in Beverly in another eight hours. God, how could I have missed this? And by Beverly, were things going to change now that Alex and I were……… I had the urge to ask him but I suppressed it. I couldn’t definitely risk ruining the time I had with him. He was mine for the ride. That was all that mattered.

“Hi” I said as I gathered up my hair in a messy bun.

“Miss Hayden” He nodded.

What? Don’t tell me we’re back at this.  I rolled my eyes in annoyance. I needed an affirmation.

He handed me a water bottle and some fruits. “There’s a good restaurant in a couple of miles. We can have a proper meal there.”

God, I felt so dizzy. As I drank the chilled water, I finally came back to senses.

I munched an apple as quietly as I could manage. His eyes were stuck to the road. His composure was cool. He was giving nothing away.  I would give everything to know what was going inside that head. My beady eyes were fixed on him. Finally, the car came to a halt.

It was a much more sophisticated restaurant than the pub we’d been to last night. It was complete with a well-groomed lawn, a huge fountain which brimmed with sparkling water, and valet parking. I felt a bit out of place in the formal setting. But, Alex, he fit right in. In fact, the five star restaurant looked dull in his presence. I was never a high-end girl. I would rather have mac and cheese at a busy diner than bland food at an extravagant restaurant.

A waiter escorted us to a private room on the second floor. As we sat down, I couldn’t help but smile.

“What is it?” He asked me, his eyes caught off guard. For a second serious-Alex was replaced by curious-Alex.

“Nothing special.” I lied.

“Katy, you know how I feel about you hiding your thoughts from me. Please?” He held my hand and squeezed it gently.

“No.” I replied and gave him a challenging look. It was going to take more than that to get it out of me.

He suddenly pulled me over his lap, our faces only apart by a fraction of inches. My brown hair spread over my face. He removed them slowly, strand by strand. Finally, he leaned in and planted a soft, chaste, promising kiss on my lips. “Please?” He said again, this time sounding needier. He knew what that did to me. My body melted in his hold.

“Well if you’re going to cheat and put me in such compromising position. Our first awkward date. You took your day off work to show me around. The over-expensive restaurant you took me to; I was choking in there.” I flushed.
