A mid week update! :) <3 Enjoy!

I felt his lips curl into a smile against my neck. He pulled my hand and drew me closer to himself.

“So you planned all this while I was gone?” I asked, still gasping at the majestic view.

“Yes. You have given me everything Katy by just saying yes.” His eyes were glowing with reverence, passion, care, maybe even love?

“Alex….I….” My voice started to choke. I wanted to tell him that I love him; I loved him so very much. But I just couldn’t bring the words out. What if it scared him and he left me? I had promised I would not fall in love with him. But I had. I was deeply, madly, crazily in love with him.

He cupped my face in his hands. “It’s alright, baby.”

I felt my heart swell up in turmoil of emotions and I locked my lips with his. What had I ever done to deserve this man? Instead of holding back like he usually did, he slowly lowered me into the white sand and climbing on top of me, his tongue in my mouth, exploring, ravaging, possessing, and consuming me with unfamiliar emotions. My body reacted with the same passion, blood streaming hot through my veins. I felt completely lost, with our bodies totally engaged in the moment.

He recoiled suddenly, panting. I was catching my breath too.

“Katy, you’ve got to stop me. I can’t do this to you.”

“Why?” I said, breathlessly.

There was a long pause.

“You can’t question my decisions.” He finally said harshly and firmly.

We spent the rest of the night on the opposite sides of the bonfire. I didn’t understand what I’d done wrong. I curled up my knees and lay down on the warm sand, turning my back to him as I shed helpless tears. Not a word was exchanged the next morning too, as we sat in the car that drove us back to New York. We had reached an impasse. I occasionally turned my face ever so slightly to catch a glimpse of his majestic face. He looked endlessly out of the window; his eyes had a lost look.

When the car reached outside my apartment, I got out hastily without waiting for him and went straight inside and shut the door.

The next morning I was back to my ordinary life. The weekend was over and so was the fairytale. I yet had to get myself a job to support myself. I decided to go to Cosmo’s office and try my luck.

The receptionist led me into a quite large room. It was entirely white and marble and cold with an iron steely desk in the middle on which stacks of magazines were neatly assorted. There was also a Macbook and a black coffee beside it. The woman sitting at the desk was probably in her late thirties-early forties. Her hair was cut into a straight platinum blonde lob that ended at her ears and she was dressed in full formal suit.

“Miss Katherine Hayden,” she said, reading from my C.V., “What do you think of yourself? Do you think you can swing by my office any time you like? Is this some sort of a sport for you? Cosmo is not just a magazine- it’s a religion, you have to be devoted to be a part of it. I can see how it can be difficult for a person with your fashion sense to understand.” She looked up and cast me a sympathetic glare. Jeez, it’s just a magazine, woman.

I apologized because I had been unprofessional. Luckily, she liked my work enough to give me a second chance and hired me as a temp. My work was to go out and research on articles and construct them while someone else got the credit for it. But something was better than nothing. New York’s a tough city to keep up with without a job.

The week dragged on while I led on my redundant life. Sleep. Work. Cry. Repeat. I still hadn’t got any calls or texts from Alex.  By Friday, I had given up all hope.

On Monday, I surprisingly got a chance to do a real interview for an article that would be published in my name. Less surprising was the fact that I was to interview Mr. Parker who had been, in the words of Amelia, generous enough to give his precious time to me. I couldn’t help but secretly smirk when I imagined how her eyes would pop out if she knew we were dating. I sighed. So we were back to square one.
