I know I haven't been updating lately. Sorry (: I'll try and update more frequently. I love it when you guys respond actively to the updates. It really drives me to update faster <3
I wanted to barge right in and tell them Alex was mine. I loved him. Just when everything was going to be perfect, this had to happen. I swallowed my anger and after shedding a few involutary tears, drank some water and got out. No drama. I told myself. Alex respects them. Wait for the right moment. Maybe you got it all wrong. This is not the way to deal with it. I decided to tell Elizabeth about Alex and me in private. Of course she would understand. She should. I didn’t want to embarrass Alex and make him feel like he didn’t fulfill his parents’ wishes.
I quietly sat beside Alex and ate my dinner. The Thomas’ eyed me with obvious contempt, but I pretended to ignore. After dinner, I went over Elizabeth’s room to discuss the matter with her.
“Hi, mind if I come in?” I asked friendly.
“Yes.” She didn’t even look up from her iPad.
“I wanted to talk to you about Alex……you know your parents want you to marry him right?”
“Yes. And how is it any of your business?”
“I love him. I’m sorry but I do.”
“Well that’s your problem.”
“He loves me too.”
She laughed hysterically, as if I had cracked a joke.
Finally, she looked at me coldly and said, “You think he loves you. Guys like Alex date many girls like you but they marry girls like me.”
“He loves me. I know that.”
“That’s because he never got a chance to know me. Not yet. Once he gets to know me, he’s going to be head over heels for me and dump you.”
I felt challenged. Our love was strong. I decided to put it to test. I didn’t need to assure myself; I wanted to prove it to her.
“Go ahead then. Go out with him. I won’t come between you two. You’ll see you can never get him.”
“Challenged accepted.” She laughed wickedly as she put on her fake eyelashes.

“That went well.” Alex came behind me as I was sitting in front of the mirror and started massaging my back gently.
“You really think?” I looked at him, stupefied.
“Of course. They loved you. Uncle and Aunt are not very open about their feelings. Who cannot love you?” A wry smile lined his face as he pulled me closer, bringing his lips closer to mine.
“Not today.” I pulled back immediately. Although how much I those lips were irresistible to me, I wanted to play fair. I should give Elizabeth a fair chance to try her love.
“Oh, I’m sorry. You must be so tired after the wedding.”
“About that dinner reservation tomorrow, I don’t think I’d be able to make it. I have a real bad headache.”
Alex frowned a little. “It’s our first month anniversary. We had this day planned since a week. You only picked out that boathouse for the night. Okay, I’m going to cancel it.”
He took out his cell phone. “Stop. I can’t go. But you should go. Why waste such a beautiful night?”
“There’s no place in the world I’d rather be than with you.” He held my face between his hands.
“I really want you to go. I need some time alone. Take Elizabeth along with you. She’d love to see the boathouse. Please. Don’t ask any more questions.” I said coldly.
“Kay.”
Alex retreated quietly back to his bed and started reading a book.
I’m sorry.
I knew I had disappointed Alex. I didn’t have a choice. Maybe he deserved someone better than me. He deserved a shot at a better life. I hid my tears.
What will happen at the date night? Will Katy lose Alex forever?
