Alex was woken up around 5am by her phone ringing.
"Hello?". She frowned.
"Alex! Time to wake up honey, you have a radio interview to do in about two hours". Alice answered.
"Ok, I'm getting up now". Alex huffed.
She hung up the phone and went into the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and showered. She got dressed in a denim shirt and overalls. She slid on her tiffany blue heels and flat ironed her hair. She peeked over at the bed to see Kayden awake watching cartoons.
"Your going with Daddy today". She told him as she changed his diaper.
"Otay". He yawned.
She did her makeup and got Kayden dressed. She looked at the time and it was only 6:30.
She picked up the phone and called Jay.
"Yes Alex?". He sounded like he was still asleep.
"I need you to watch Kayden while I go to a radio interview". Alex began packing Kayden's diaper bag.
"Hungy Mommy". Kayden poked her knee.
"Ok, hold on". She looked down at him.
She grabbed cereal puffs out of his bag and handed them to him.
"Uh-I can't I gotta go to a funeral". He sounded more alert now.
"Who died?". Alex frowned strapping Kayden in his carseat.
"My Aunt". He sighed.
"I'm so sorry, I'll come by and check on you later but I'll figure something out with Kay". Alex sighed.
She hung up and went out the door. Nick met her in the hallway.
"Hey". He greeted her.
He handed her a blueberry iced coffee.
"God! You are a life saver". Alex sipped her coffee.
"No problem, before coffee I don't think anything I say is coherent". Nick chuckled.
"Same here". Alex nodded.
"Look Alex, you know I would have told you about me and Jordan but she made me swear I wouldn't tell anyone". Nick explained.
"It's no hard feelings Nick, I just feel that Jordan could have told me, what if I would have tried to make a move on you, what would she have done?". Alex asked.
"I don't know. I just think that she wanted to make sure we were serious". He attempted to defend Jordan.
"I appreciate you trying to explain, but Jordan is big girl, she can explain her actions herself". Alex strapped Kayden in the middle of the backseat of the car. Her and Nick sat on either side of him and the driver headed to the radio station.
"So your doing your interview with him?". Nick asked.
"Pretty much, being who I am, you kind of start building a wall against new people and babysitters, preferably strangers aren't trustworthy with my kid. And his father has to go to a funeral so besides Alice, you, and Jordan, I'm the only one to watch him". Alex explained.
"I get it you know, I have a daughter of my own". He revealed.
"You?!". Alex was shocked.
"Yeah, five years old, that's another reason why I took the job, she lives in California so now I can be closer to her". He smiled.
He took a picture out of his wallet and handed it to Alex.
"She's beautiful". She grinned.
"Thank you, but could you not tell Jordan, she doesn't know yet". He begged.
