Alex couldn't believe she let Nick talk her into this. She was currently getting dressed for a meeting with Carter. He told Carter he needed to speak with him. But really he would try and warm him up to talking to Alex. She was still a tad salty about the situation with Jay so hopefully her talk with Carter didn't make everything boil over. She took a shower and did her hair, putting the front in a ponytail. She did her makeup and got dressed in a green dress with a thigh high slit. She added her sneakers and waited for Nick to call her downstairs.

She looked over to Kayden who was still asleep. Alice was coming over to baby sit him. Jordan and Alex still weren't speaking. Of course Alex wanted to talk to Jordan, but she couldn't force Jordan to talk to her.

Nick texted Alex and said he was downstairs. Alice walked into the hotel room as Alex was leaving.

"Good luck". Alice gave Alex a quick hug.

"Thanks, I'll need it". Alex sighed.

She got into the elevator her nerves threatening to blow over. She reached the lobby and exited the building. She got into the car with Nick and they were on their way.

"How are you feeling?". Nick looked over to her once they reached a red light.

"Like a nervous wreck". Alex couldn't control her bouncing leg.

"It'll be fine. All you two have to do is talk". Nick tried to reassure her.

"That's what it seems. But there was a lot of emotion coming from both ends. Something happened between us". Alex explained.

"Like what?". Nick cocked his eyebrow up.

"He saved my life". Alex stopped looking at Nick.

"You mean the, incident?". Nick asked.

"Yeah, the incident. He uhm-held me after and told me I could trust him. The look in his eyes, you don't just get over that. And later, he told me it was what he was trained to do". Alex elaborated.

Nick was quiet now.

"You don't get a training for this line of work Alex, you just have to have certain requirements. He lied. So whatever he is trying to hide, you should have an open mind to whatever it is". Nick informed her.

Alex nodded. Before she knew it, they were pulling up to an apartment building.

"You ready?". He asked cutting off the car.

"As ready as I can be". Alex sighed.

They entered the building and went into the elevator.

Nick pulled out his phone and dialed Carter. He stopped the elevator.

"Hey uhm-I can't make it but can we reschedule?". Nick lied.

"Yes, Alex is on her way". He looked to Alex.

"No you can't bail! We talked about this, you need to tell her what is with you". Nick rolled his eyes.

"Look I'm warning you not to!". He felt the elevator jolt up.

The elevator reached the forth floor and the doors opened revealing Carter with the phone pressed to his ear.

"I warned you". Nick sighed.

Alex just stared at Carter. She didn't know what to say. He just stood there, having a million things to say but none of them would come out of his mouth.

"Hey". Alex greeted shyly.

"Hey". He greeted back.

"I think I'll leave you two to talk". Nick waited for Alex to step out into the hallway.

Hesitantly, Alex went into the hall of apartment doors with Carter. The nervous feeling returned when the elevator doors closed.

"Look Alex, I never meant for any of this shit to go down the way it did". Carter sighed.

"Then why did it?". Alex folded her arms.

"I don't know". He lied.

"I think you do. I'm not the one who started this, you did. So there must of been an explanation". Alex was getting irritated.

"I can't do this right now". He sighed.

He turned away and began to go inside his apartment.

"You can't or you won't?". Alex retorted.

"Excuse me?". Carter walked back to her.

"You can but you won't. Your too scared that whatever you might say, it could hurt you or me". Alex explained.

"Alex you think you know, but you don't!". He spat.

"Then tell me so I will know!". She yelled.

He stayed silent.

"This is a waste of my time and your time". Alex blew him off and turned on her heels.

Carter grabbed her wrist and pulled her close. They were so close Alex could feel his warmth.

"I can't tell you because I don't know if you'd feel the same. I had to quit because I don't fall for people like you. How would I explain this? To Alice? To the press? To people? To you?". He rambled.

"Carter, you don't have to explain any of your actions or feelings to anyone. Not even me". Alex whispered.

Carter's eyes glazed over.

"Your making this hard for me Alex". He smiled softly.

"Then let me make it a little easier". Alex stood on her tip toes and kissed him.

He immediately kissed back. For Carter everything was clear. Perfectly. He knew what he wanted and how he wanted it to go. For Alex, this was all new for her. She hadn't had a relationship like this since Jay, and everyone had already seen how that had gone.

Alex pulled away.

"Is it clear for you?". Alex asked.

He nodded causing her to giggle.

"Man, I missed your laugh". He hugged her.

She hugged him back and let go.

"So what now?". Alex asked.

"Well I have a job interview in a few minutes but, we could always catch up later in the week". He planned.

"Sounds interesting, just don't go MIA on me before then". She joked.

"Wow, below the belt, your a cold woman". He chuckled.

Alex walked into the elevator.

"And you like me that way". She smirked.

The doors closed and Alex couldn't wipe the smile on her face off. The elevator doors opened and Alex walked into the lobby where Nick was waiting.

"So? How did it go?". Nick asked.

"I think, he's in love with me". Alex grinned.

Nick's jaw dropped.

"And what gave you that idea?". He asked.

"We kissed". Alex answered.

Nick was in shock.

"I never would have thought". Nick shook his head.

"Me either". Alex sighed.
