The night was filled with unanswered questions. Neither Alex nor Carter could sleep knowing that there was a possibility that there could be a baby growing inside Alex.
"I filed a court order for India to get her baby tested. I'm serious about this Alex". He looked over to her.
"I know. You were always serious about getting important things done. That's why I fell for you". Alex replied.
They fell quiet.
"I thought you fell for me because I saved you from the...balcony". He didn't look at her now.
"You don't have to talk about it like it was an accident. It wasn't, yet you cared so much to actually let me almost pull you with me and then the way you held me and looked into my eyes, I knew then. I knew then that you were the one. You didn't have to care, you could've just decided it wasn't in your job description, called the police and moved on. But you didn't". Alex reminisced.
"I know, I knew that exact moment that I liked you. You brought out the fun side of me, and no girl has ever just made me want to have fun. To you work was for later. Later would never come. And I liked that about you, even though I tried to hide that. But on the balcony, I couldn't conceal it. I thought that I'd almost lost you and it would have killed me if I didn't get the chance to ever tell you how I feel". Carter smiled to himself.
"I think I would have regretted dying that morning. I wouldn't have done things, said things that needed to be done and said. I would've just been the celebrity who committed suicide. Another statistic, and I don't want that for my life". Alex sniffled.
Carter pulled her next to him.
She laid her head on his shoulder.
"I want to get married in the summer. Maybe June or July. Maybe even on your birthday". Alex thought.
"Sounds like a plan". Carter agreed.
"I want a big wedding dress, not a traditional one, with flowers, and a beautiful venue. I want some of my family there but I know that's a long shot. I put my Mother in jail, my sister is too close to my Father for me to trust her, and my Grandmother, I never even met her. Its crazy how I grew up not even knowing any family besides my parents then my mom and then my family grew by four people again. Then Jordan came along, then you and Nick. Its crazy how God works". Alex talked.
"I think that, your Mom will understand why you did what you did . I'm not saying its wrong because at the time you didn't know your Dad was still alive. But I think that just maybe if you go talk to her, she'll see it your way". Carter challenged her.
"OK. Let's go". Alex jumped up.
"Now?". Carter stood up.
"Its an hour drive from here to the prison and visiting hours are at seven in the morning to five in the evening. Lets go". Alex pulled on tights and a jacket.
She walked down the stairs and grabbed her wallet and car keys with Carter close behind her.

"AND YOU CAN CATCH ME, RIH, IN NEW LA FERAAARRR, AND THE TRUCK BEHIND ME GOT ARRMMSS". Alex sang the lyrics to Lemon by NERD featuring Rihanna.Carter chuckled.
"You sing like this in the car but heavenly on your own track, that don't add up". He smirked.
"Well I for one feel that you should love my singing either way". Alex rolled her eyes.
Carter chuckled.
"What's funny?". Alex frowned.
"India's lawyer recommends that me, you and her have a sit down to discuss future moves if the baby does come out to be mine". Carter shook his head.
"I think that would be best". Alex kept her eyes on the road.
"You want to do this?". Carter frowned.
"Yep. If I'm gonna be step-mommy then me and her are going to have to get along". Alex found talking about this more easier to forgive Carter.
"OK. We meet tonight". He sighed in shock.

After another thirty minutes they arrived at the prison.
"I never thought I'd be sitting in the parking lot of California State Prison". Alex thought out loud.
"You want to wait?". Carter asked.
"Nah. Lets go. I need to do this". Alex took out her I.D and drivers license. Carter did the same.
They got out of the car and headed inside.
They were searched and sent through a metal detector. The clerk behind the glass took both their I.D's and drivers licenses.
"You may have thirty minutes of visitation, no touching aloud". The clerk spoke firmly to them both.
Alex nodded.
They were guided through a door and sat at a specific table.
Alex fumbled with her fingers absentmindedly. Carter took her hand and squeezed.
She gave him a nervous smile. This would be the first time she saw her mother in over a year.
A door on the adjacent wall that they'd entered from, buzzed and opened.
Alex's Mother emerged with an officer holding her by the forearm.
He walked her over to the table and unshackled her.
Mrs. Winters sat down and smirked at Alex.
"I've been expecting you for a while".
