Alex hadn't spoken a word since she found out the news.  What could she say? The only person she would speak to was Kayden.  Her and Carter had left the couples retreat early,  with the permission of Ms. Wringer. Alex was curled up on the couch.  With Kayden sleeping on her side.

"I'm home!".  Carter yelled once he entered the front door from work.

Alex didn't move.

She picked Kayden up and went upstairs to go to his room.  Carter followed her.

"So you still aren't talking?".  Carter leaned on the door frame.

Alex continued changing his diaper.

"Alex?".  Carter called to her,  as if she didn't hear him.

She put Kayden in his crib and pushed past Carter to go to their room. Carter was on her heels.

"Alex! Are you mad at me?! If you are just say that! This not talking shit is getting annoying as fuck! It's been a couple days now!".  He yelled after her.

She turned to him.

"What?! What do you want me to say?! I can't say anything! The more I look at you the more I think about you leaving! I can't talk to you right now!".  Alex yelled back.

She turned on her heels and continued walking to their room leaving Carter in the hallway.

Alex decided to shower and cook dinner.  She showered putting her hair in a bun.  She slid on a hoodie and some shorts and went back downstairs to the kitchen.  Carter was sitting on the couch flipping threw channels.

Alex felt bad.  She knew it wasn't his fault for leaving, but it's hard to spend time with Carter when he would be leaving in a month.

She made spaghetti and put a lid over the pot.

She went into the living room,  Carter didn't even look up at her.

She walked over to him and sat on his lap facing him.  He immediately put his hands on her butt.

"I'm sorry". Alex whispered.

"It's OK,  but don't let that shit happen again".  He warned thumping her thigh.

She giggled hugging him.

"I wanna talk about something".  Carter looked serious now.

Alex sat on the coffee table in front of him.

"What's up?".  Alex asked.

"I want you to make a song before I leave".  Carter looked her in the eye.

"You want me to? Make a song? For you?".  Alex frowned.

"Yeah.  So I can just have something to listen to encourage me to keep going so I can get through this. This ain't just killing you too".  Carter explained.

"I think I can get that done for you".  Alex smirked.

Carter broke out with a grin on his face.

"So my Mom,  wants to meet you. And she invited us over for dinner. ".  Carter informed her.

Alex nodded.  On the outside she was nervous.

"When?".  Alex asked.

"Tomorrow night".  He answered.

"And your just telling me why?".  Alex narrowed her eyes at Carter.

"She just invited us this morning".  Carter shrugged.

Alex rolled her eyes.

"You hungry?".  Alex asked.
