Alex was shocked.
"What?!". She shrieked.
"How is that happening? We thought we had an ectopic pregnancy!". Carter frowned.
"You were having twins. One didn't make it but, the other had moved down. You never showed because sometimes the body prepares for twins, but since you lost one, the one you have wouldn't show". Dr. Oman explained.
Alex was still shocked.
"Your not dilated enough for the baby to come. Your at four centimeters and we need to get you to ten". Dr. Oman explained.
Alex sighed.
"I went through the same exact thing with Kayden". Alex smiled with tears in her eyes.
This was a bittersweet moment for her. She was sad that one of her twins died but was happy that she would at least get one of her miracles.
"How you feelin?". Carter finally spoke once Dr. Oman left.
"I feel like this is a dream I never want to wake up from". Alex kissed his cheek.
Carter was rubbing Alex's back causing the contractions to be less painful.
"What are we gonna name her?". Alex looked up to Carter.
"You mean him?". He smirked.
Alex rolled her eyes.
After a couple hours she was only dilated six centimeters.
Alex had fallen asleep as the rest of her family came to visit her.
"Hey y'all". She smiled.
"So I hear that I got a niece on the way". Jordan squealed.
"A nephew and yes your right". Carter corrected.
"He wants a boy so bad". Alex rolled her eyes.
The room was full of buzz. Everybody talking about the baby. Even Kensey and Kayden were excited.
"Ok let me just check and see if you are dilated anymore". Dr. Oman entered the room.
"Good news! It's time to push!". Dr. Oman cheered.
She cleared everyone except for Carter out of the room.
"Ok Carter, your job is to comfort her while she's pushing. We don't want her to be stressed or scared while she pushes or that could cause stress on the baby". Dr. Oman directed Carter.
She took her position with a nurse next to her.
"Ok Alex, I'm gonna count to ten. While I'm counting your gonna push, when I get to ten you stop, got it?". Dr. Oman looked to Alex.
She nodded.
Alex placed both her hands in Carter's.
"Ok, ready set, push!". Dr. Oman began counting.
Alex squeezed Carter's hands as she felt the baby moving towards the exit.
"And ten!". Dr. Oman stopped counting.
Alex sucked in a deep breathe. Pushing a baby out was hard work.
"Ok we're gonna push again great work". Dr. Oman began to count again.
As Dr. Oman counted to ten as Alex pushed again.
"The head is out". Dr. Oman reported to Alex.
She laid her head on Carter's chest.
She had forgotten how tiring child birth was.
"Ok Alex this is the last push. I need one big push". Dr. Oman wiped the sweat off her forehead.
