Chapter 1- The Letter

Cassentina-Rose Lovegood, twin to Luna Lovegood had an interesting life. Being almost a spitting image of her twin, with the exception of darker hair they were inseparable. Coming from an odd family, life in the Lovegood household was far from ordinary.

However there was a dark secret. Cassentina wasn't just an ordinary witch, in fact she wasn't entirely human. She was born with a serious illness, one that can only be cured by her grandmother Pandora. Pandora, ravishing in beauty was an astonishing sight. Her curly waist-length sun yellow hair fell in delicate waves, contrasting to her icy white skin. A dark aura surrounded her, you could sense it in her presence. She was the queen. They called her the head vampire. And with that legacy she bestowed on Cassentina-Rose the day she was born. The day she became a vampire.

Cassentina was the daughter of a loving mother named Pandora, after her grandmother and her father Xenophilius. Pandora was a smart pure blooded Ravenclaw who spent her time indoors, her head in books and experimenting. Once Cassentina was changed into a vampire, she spent most of her time trying to remove the curse bestowed upon her first born. Unfortunately for her studying, she was unsuccessful and that became the death of her.

Cassentina looked up at the full moon, feeling it call for her. The desperation for human blood was strong, but she shook it away. Standing up off the grass she sat on, she brushed off her skirt and headed towards the house. Across a stream and up a hill near Ottery Street, Catchpole a black cylindrical shaped castle stood. Hopping over the stones across the stream and ascending up the hill, she reached an old wooden gate. She eyed the assortment of odd plants before her. A bush covered in orange, radish-like fruits that crept over the fence sat on the left to her as she opened the gate and smiled at the sign that read 'Keep Off the Dirigible Plums' hanging next to it on the gate. There was also two more alongside it 'The Quibbler Editor: X. Lovegood' in the centre of the gate and 'Pick Your Own Mistletoe' to the right beside a big ivy-like mistletoe bush.

Before her a windy path lead to the front door. She shut the gate behind her and walked forward. Two aged crab-apple trees, bent with the wind, stripped entirely of leaves but still adorned with berry-sized fruits and bushy crowns of white-beaded mistletoe, stood sentinel on either side of the door. Mother loved mistletoe. Seeing them made me think of her.

A hoot from one of the trees brought her back to reality. She eyed a little owl with a slightly flattened hawk-like head looking at her sternly.

"What's the matter you ratchet bird. Stop looking at me like I'm some freak" she shouted, shooing it away. She turned away and opened the door, facing the kitchen and began to ascend a spiral staircase in the centre of the room.

Once she reached the second level, she was greeted by her father, sitting down at his working desk, a desk light lighting up the dim-lit room, and Luna, who was smiling as she looked up from the newest edition of the Quibbler. Returning the smile, she perched herself on a chair opposite Luna, picking up the book laying open above it. Luna glanced at her and placed the book on the ground, handing her sister a letter.

She immediately recognised it, the Hogwarts crest sealing the envelope.

She smiled at the exact location and opened the seal, unfolding the letter.

Dear Cassentina-Rose Lovegood,
You've been accepted into Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry!
Here is a list of items you will need for your first year.........

She flinched at the letter and dropped it. Luna smiled and pulled her into a hug.
"Aren't you happy?" She spoke with a cheer. "We get to go to school together! There'll be Wrackspirts and Nargles everywhere and we will meet new people and be in Ravenclaw!"
