I adjusted to the light in the living room. My room was decorated in tinsel and baubles. My linen was green with snowflakes and Luna's was the same but blue. I opened my wardrobe door and grabbed out a dark green dress with white snowflakes and puffy sleeves with matching green ugboots and my brown hair in a braid with a blue sequin bow clip on the top of the braid. I was Christmas perfect! I looked at my lapis lazuli necklace on my neck and the silver symbol my friend Padma made for me. I smiled and opened my jewellery box to look for my Christmas earrings, I found them, but they were worn out and old, so I chucked them in the bin and wore my regular green studs. My charm bracelet dangled in my wrist as I reached towards the present I was going to give Luna, but cut my finger on one of the catches in the door. I pulled my finger away and shakes it away, turning it around and seeing that it instantly healed. I jumped in fright and looked at Luna, who was smiling in her sleep, her pink converses dangling off the edge. I looked back at the cupboard and concentrated on the present and it levitated towards me. I grabbed it and headed downstairs, hearing the dangly bells on my shoes tingle as I walked down. I reached the bottom and spotted dad finishing the decorations on the tree with his wand. I smiled and he turned around, smiling.
"Good morning Casey, Good sleep?"
I nodded and placed Luna's present in the tree and grabbed my father's present from my pocket and placing it on the tree with a piece of string. I smiled and turned around, seeing my father finishing decorating the table and dusting his hands off in relief. The house looked Christmassy with tinsel and decorations everywhere. I gazed at my father's Christmassy outfit. He wore a red flannelette shirt with white stars and matching pants. His shoes were the usual; black leather and his eyes glistened in happiness, but deep down I could sense sadness. This is the second Christmas without mum. I sighed and glanced at the window and opened the front door, sitting in the top step, looking over at the hill. I could see a shape in the distance and spotted our owl Griensē flying over and soaring into the house to deliver the Daily Prophet and letters to father about the Quibbler. I sighed, glancing in the distance in deep thought. Someone moved and sat next to me, giving me a fright, but it was only Luna. She smiled at me, wearing a puffy long-sleeves midnight blue dress with snowflakes, identical to mine, other than mine being dark green. She had her hair in a messy braid to the side and with a green sequin bow and matching blue ugboots. She tilted her head and looked out at the horizon as did I. She looked back at me.
"I stopped a deep thoughts, haven't I? I can see it growing smaller in your eyes."
I smiled.
"And as you, what's in your mind now?" I asked. She glanced at me.
"This and that, really nothing. Just not really looking forward to another year of people regularly teasing us"
"No need to worry, Luna" I spoke. "There will always be an ending to the toughest situations, you just have to live in the moment. As our mother always said" I glanced at her and smirked. "Everything happens for a reason, it doesn't matter what it is, it matters if you learn from it or makes you a stronger person"
She nodded and glimpsed back at the distance, then back to me.
"What brings you here? It's Christmas. You should be singing carols and opening presents"
I looked at the ground.
"It's just the seer, she said be warned of your second year, a werewolf is near. You know a werewolf's bite can kill a vampire instantly"
She nodded and grabbed my arm, pulling me back in the house. I followed and smiled.
"Come on, Casey" she spoke grinning. "We have presents to open! Merlin's Beard! It's Christmas! Come on!" Luna spoke and we ran into the living room, spotting father prepare breakfast; cheese and tomato croissants with plum and orange juice. He placed down the plates and we ran up to him, giving him a hug. He let go and felt my forehead in shock.
"Merlin's beard! Your not cold. You feel normal and your skin is less pale."
I smiled.
"Must be the sunlight. Brings in the colour" I answered. He nodded and we sat down at the table and we ate our breakfast. I pored the plum juice into my cup as well as Luna's and we grabbed a couple of croissants, placing them in our plate. I bit into one and tasted the wonderful savouriness of the warm cheese and tomato. I finished eating both of them and drank a sip of fresh plum juice from our garden. It tasted bitter and tangy, that's how I like it!I wiped my mouth and washed my dishes in the sink, placing them onto the drying rack, walking towards the Christmas tree and opening my presents. I unwrapped the first present that was from my father, it was a copy of the Tales of Beedle the Bard. I thanked him and placed the wrappings in the bin and opened the present from Luna. She gave me red rose dangly earrings in which I took off my studs and placed them on. She glanced in my direction and smiled. I smiled back and spotted that dad gave her a copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. She was opening my present in the meantime. She covered her mouth in happiness. I gave her a charm bracelet with a charm of 7 different fantastic beasts including the demiguise, Nargle, niffler, crumpled horned snorshack, plimy, snidget and plumpka. She smiled and placed it on in fascinated. I smiled back and glanced at my book and headed upstairs.
