Three wolves crouched on the borderline, watching the patrol approach them from a distance. They were a meagre patrol, the few of them, as they were walking towards what could possibly be their deaths.
A young silvery wolf was the most anxious out of them. "My first battle. Feels like yesterday we left the whelping den. Right, litter brother?" He nudged another wolf that was completely identical to him, who snarled back. "Don't rub your nostalgia on me."
"I remember feeling that way." Said the oldest, a very dark gray male with jade markings like theirs.
"By the Great Mother Wolf." The youngest caught sight if a purple glimmer on the horizon. "There it is! A battle patrol! A real Quartz Wolf battle patrol!"
His brother snarled, crouching to the ground. The two others followed behind him.
"They're almost here!" Cursed the youngest. "By the Great Mother Wolf!"
All three fell back, fur bristling, then gave up on attempting to fight.
They went back to camp to tell their leader their findings.
