Chapter Song: War of Hearts by Ruelle
"Stay with me a little longer. I will wait for you, shadows creep and want grows stronger. Deeper than the truth."
~ When they pulled up to Isaac's house, chills ran down Isabella's spine. The small family home looked dark and spooky, shadowed by the horrible things she could only assume happened under that roof. The vibe of the house just screamed that something bad had happened and from how Derek described the abuse, Isabella was sure that something did.
As soon as Derek put the Camaro into park and retrieved the keys from the ignition, Isabella jumped out of the car. She stared up at the house nervously before walking side by side with Scott and Derek up to the ominous house. She couldn't believe that this house could have been her home, it seemed impossible to her. She didn't know how Isaac had done it.
While walking Isabella noticed a strip of yellow police tape coming from the mailbox of the home, it stretched around a tree and then ended at the front door. The police had not searched the house yet, at least that's what Stiles had gathered from his father. All they had done was mark it as a "crime scene" when it wasn't even the place where Mr. Lahey had died.
It was kind of insulting to Isabella that they had marked it as a crime scene but didn't even have the time to search the said crime scene. They had all day to do it and they didn't, they had arrested Isaac early in the morning. Isabella couldn't really complain though because it meant they would have the chance to wipe any evidence from the house that led to Isaac. It was a positive for their cause, but it was still insulting in a way.
Isabella sighed sadly as they all reached the front door. She was scared about what she was going to see behind it, but she knew that it was better for them to see it than the police.
Scott reached out after a few moments and opened the door, letting it swing by itself until it hit the wall. Scott walked in first followed by Derek and then Isabella who took all of her steps cautiously, taking in every inch of her surroundings; surroundings of a home she could have grown up in. Since she was the last in, she softly closed the door behind herself before walking closely behind Scott.
Scott reached into his pocket and pulled out a flashlight that Derek had given him before they had reached the home. Scott flipped the small switch on the flashlight and let the light shine out of it in the direction they were walking. They could have turned on the lights in the house to make it easier to see but they didn't want to alert the neighbors. They couldn't have the cops knowing they were there, no one could find out. No one was supposed to be at the house.
Scott walked forward as he led the way with the flashlight and began to speak as Derek and Isabella followed behind, " If Isaac didn't kill his father, who did?"
