Several months had passed since Jimin and Mina had last spent time alone together. It was nearing the end of the year and they'd barely been able to talk to each other, due to their busy schedules. Hours of practice and preparation further limited the already short amount of time they had to call or text each other, forcing them to communicate solely through eye-contact at award shows, or wave subtly as their groups walked past each other backstage. Once again, Jimin admired Mina from afar as they briefly exchanged small smiles at the KBS Song Festival. Both groups were to perform on-stage in celebration of the New Year. He was currently in the dressing room with his members, setting up his microphone pack.
"Hey Jimin! TWICE is performing now!" yelled V, who was sitting in front of the TV. Jimin grinned and rushed over to watch Mina dance to a cool new Signal Remix. Jin and RM happily danced along beside them, inducing laughter within everyone in the room. Turning back to face the screen, Jimin's chuckling slowly subsided as he continued to gaze contentedly at Mina whenever she came on-screen. For him, watching her dance had to be one of the most beautiful sights to see. However, his smile was promptly replaced by a frown as he came to an abrupt and sudden realization; Mina had gotten even skinnier. Her dance movements were laced with fatigue, and her eyes were heavy with sleep. These small changes would've gone unoticed by anyone who saw her, as they were hidden behind a bright smile. But, Jimin was not just anyone, he knew her far too well for that. He also knew that the members of TWICE were busy, but not that busy. His brow raised in worry, Jimin turned around to talk to Jungkook.
"Jungkook-ah!" Jimin said, "Has Tzuyu talked to you recently?"
"U-uh, w-why would you think that, hyung?" Jungkook stuttered out, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Aish, stop pretending! I know you stole my phone yesterday to ask Mina for Tzuyu's number." chuckled Jimin.
Jungkook, who had gone pink, signed in defeat. "No, I texted her, but she only said that they were too busy at the moment. Apparently, they haven't slept in days."
"What?!" Jimin yelled. That was it, he had to find her backstage. This would definitely be quite the challenge, as there were cameras everywhere. Considering the fact that Mina was still on a dating ban, he wouldn't like to find out what would happen if they were caught together. Luckily enough for him, TWICE's performance had just ended, meaning that he could leave immediately.
"Manager-nim, I'm going to the washroom!" Jimin hastily called out, as he walked out the door. Ducking through staff members and technicians, he eventually made his way to the small staircase where TWICE was filing off-stage. Spotting Mina, he rushed over.
"I need you to come with me." he urged. Mina was slightly taken aback, but glad to have him there. She whispered something in Jihyo's ear before leaving with Jimin. He grasped her hand tightly as they stealthily crept into an empty hallway, finding a small corner to stand in. Panting and trying to catch their breath, their eyes met. It was only then, that the two of them realized just how long it had been since the last time they were together.
"Minari." Jimin whispered, pulling her in for a tight hug and breathing in her sweet scent. He'd seriously missed this, as her presence always seemed to calm him down. She returned his hug with the same enthusiasm, burrowing her head into his chest.
"Chim-Chim!" she whispered back, smiling. After several minutes, they separated. Not too far though, as Jimin continued to cradle Mina's small figure in his arms. "Why are you here, Jimin-ie?" asked Mina, giving him a questioning look.
"Why? Do you not want me here?" Jimin teased, softly smiling down at her.
"No!" Mina giggled. "I missed you... A lot, actually." She confessed, blushing crimson and shyly looking away. Jimin kissed her forehead.
"I missed you too." He replied, tucking his fingers underneath her chin and turning her to face him. As their eyes met, Mina sighed.
"Okay Jimin, what's wrong? I know that look." She asked, fondly brushing the hair our of his eyes.
"Well, I actually came here to ask you that question. You've gotten so much skinnier and you look so tired now. How much are they working you and your members?"
Mina bit her lip and looked around just to be sure no one was listening. "Too much." she replied. She promptly filled Jimin in on her current schedule, making him more and more concerned as she rambled on. She hadn't had a full night's sleep in about three days, as her company needed her to prepare for both Korean and Japanese promotions. She told him how they had to fly from Japan to Korea for year-end programs, then fly straight back to Japan where they would attend another awards show, then promptly head back to Korea again, for even more activities. Not to mention, the sheer amount of practice they needed for all their performances was overwhelming. "I know it's part of the job, but a little break would be nice." Mina confided. "I skipped a lot of my meals, since I barely had enough time to practice."
"Minari, you really worry me sometimes, you know?" Jimin said in a sad tone. "It hurts to see you suffer from far away, knowing that I can't help you." He laced their fingers together. "I know you can't do anything about your schedule, but promise me you will do your best to stay healthy."
She sighed. "I don't know if-"
"Please?" Jimin pleaded. Mina looked up at him and smiled.
"I will try." She replied. Jimin leaned down to capture her lips in a soft, sweet kiss, wrapping his arms around her waist. After a short while, they parted once more.
"Thanks for caring, Chimin-ie." Mina whispered.
"Of course," Jimin said, giving her a peck on the nose. "I love you."
"Love you too." She responded. "Now let's go back before people think we've gone missing." Mina teased.
As they walked back, Jimin suddenly remembered something important while swinging their interlocked hands between them. "Hey Mina, my members really want to meet you guys, since they know about the two of us already. So, I was thinking that after all this, we can have a late New Years party with all the members of TWICE and BTS. It'll be just the sixteen of us having fun together. We can even host it at BTS's apartment complex."
"That's actually a pretty good idea. But I think my members would prefer it if we hosted it at TWICE's dorm." Mina grinned. They happily continued to plan out the party as they walked to TWICE's waiting room. When they finally arrived outside the door, they shared one final heartfelt hug. "Goodbye Jimin! Good luck, your performance will be soon. I'll cheer for you!" Mina laughed.
"Bye, Minari!" Jimin waved, then turned to head back to his own waiting room, feeling a lot happier than he did before.
Jimin walked through the door and sat down.
"How was your washroom break, Jimin-ssi?" Taehyung asked, smiling cheekily with his brow raised.
"Pretty good." Jimin smiled.
"BTS, you guys are on-call!" Yelled a staff member. They waited backstage for their cue to go up. Jimin jumped a little when he felt a little vibration from his phone.
Minari is online...
Chim-chim! Hwaiting! : Minari
Smiling, Jimin texted back with a little heart.
Jimin: <3 ~
Dance well! : Minari
"BTS, you're up!" called a member of staff.
"Don't worry guys, you'll do fine." said their Manager.
Jimin smiled to himself. Or course he'll do well. As long as Mina was safe, happy, and healthy, he couldn't see how anything could possibly go wrong.
